Baas Posted February 24 Share #1 Posted February 24 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hey everyone! I have a big problem with the lens hood. I tried to unscrew it to replace the filter, but I can’t do it. It turned slightly and then got stuck—I can’t rotate it any further. There’s a bit of play in the hood, but it just won’t move. Has anyone experienced this before? Any tips on how to remove it? Welcome, dear visitor! Advertisement Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Hi Baas, Take a look here Leica Q2 issue with the lens hood. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted February 24 Share #2 Posted February 24 It sounds like it is cross threaded Let’s hope it’s the hood. If gentle force won’t budge it, consult your dealer You don’t want to invite a costly repair to the lens.
Siriusone59 Posted February 24 Share #3 Posted February 24 If you determine that it's not cross threaded and only binding against the existing filter, re-tighten the hood and carefully attempt to loosen the filter first by reaching inside with a couple of fingers. Then you should be able to remove the hood. I had something similar happen on my Q where the filter loosened just enough to get a bit cock-eyed and bind against the hood, after unscrewing it a bit they both came off together.
jaapv Posted February 24 Share #4 Posted February 24 Another trick. Push against the rubber sole of a slipper. If you grab the hood or filter it deforms slightly just enough to bind it.

Used to do the same with the sidewall of a tire…removed jammed filters a couple time this way 😂

The thing is, I can't spin it in any direction. I checked the filter, and it doesn’t interfere with the lens hood.
mcqinternational Posted February 26 Share #8 Posted February 26 kitchen rubber gloved usually get grip the bright coloured ones .
Overgaard Posted February 26 Share #9 Posted February 26 To get it off, use force. Rubber gloves or whatever. Sometimes temperature/humidity changes helps as the metal expands in heat. But you don't know if heat or cold will help, so try both. Then it if off, then take the filter off as well. The hood has a built-in-stop on the thread that you will se matches one on the camera. It should be possible to screw the hood onto the camera so they meet and it stops where it is supposed to be. It should be not too tight, not too loose. Check the threads if some dirt or other is in the threads. If it doesn't match, email Leica Customer Service and tell them it doesn't work and I'm sure they will get you a replacement: cs@leica-camera.com
