I’ve not seen any sales data that would support high demand or determination of success. CIPA I don’t think publishes by brand or model, but maybe someone has access. Sigma touted the ridiculously low 9 manufactured per day so they obviously aren’t planning on high demand or what most manufactures would call success. (This 9 per day number is clearly just marketing’s spin on a low demand and high manufacturing cost product). If they saw ROI and sufficient demand, they could increase the production count with combination of additional labor, CNC machines, and/or materials. Success here is likely measured more in marketing and engagement than sales.

True, but at 9 per day, max BF sales could be 3,285 cameras per year. I remember reading an article a few years ago stating Leica was selling over 5,000 film M cameras per year. That’s what leads me to believe low availability isn’t indicative of high demand for the BF. We’re talking extremely low numbers by design. Whether that is success depends on Sigma’s definition. I ordered the 65 two month ago but I am still waiting for it.

Yes, I have tried my Summicron-C 40, Summarit-M 75/2.5, Summicron 35 ASPH and Summicron 75 APO so far. All worked well enough to use, but I prefer native L lenses on my BF.
satijntje Posted July 2 Share #213 Posted July 2 Just arrived: a silver coloured Sigma Bf. Will add an Expert Shield to the LCD Screen as protector and anti-lightreflex. And a second (or even a third) battery. Matching 2025 and 1957 Technology together. So far, I love this camera. Never had a camera before that made so much fun. The silverchrom i-type 50mm DN f2.0 lens from Sigma has been ordered and is on its way to me. Welcome, dear visitor! keeping_a_balance Posted July 28 Share #215 Posted July 28 I took my BF with a sigma 28-70 f/2.8 lens for a holiday in Singapore/Thailand. I was very happy with the images and handling. I bought a handgrip from iwoodstore, and really liked the setup. Battery remains the biggest issue but as I was not taking pics all day long it was ok in this situation. It's still not perfect but a fun little camera, much more fun than a Sony less fun than a leica, but the weight / ease of use tradeoff made it good for this situation trip.

LocalHero1953 Posted August 22 Share #217 Posted August 22 I had the fp, I don't have a BF. Focusing M lenses manually on moving subjects on a small LCD screen is masochism AFAIC. If all you shoot is static subjects it would be worth it, especially for low volume and light weight, but most of my subjects move. I occasionally used M lenses on the fp at fixed focus for video.
Chris W Posted August 22 Share #218 Posted August 22 The LCD screen wasn't that great. I eventually bought the overpriced EVF. I used M lenses on my FP a lot, but being manual focus you had to predict the trajectory of any moving object. I had (have) Sigma L mount lenses too, which are excellent. I do use manual lenses on the BF, you touch the screen for where you wish to focus, have peaking and zoom, once focussed, compose, half press shutter button, and use that lovely back dial (all dials should feel so good) to set exposure compensation and done. You can enter and save some lens details for exif purposes.

An EVF would make all the difference in the world using manual focus lenses on the BF.
