Just noticed there are several M11’s on MPB described as like new for £4900-£5069. This is about a grand less than the going rate.

Do you think these are good buys and maybe just because they have a few to shift?

very tempted

I've always had good luck with MPB, but there are also people that have not had good luck purchasing from them.

I’ve had a mix. Some things not as I’d expect but they’ve taken them back. I did buy a lens recently where focus was too stiff, I wanted them to fix it but they said no, you can have £25 back or return it. Costing me about £200 for a CLA as was otherwise clean and excellent. In retrospect I should have just sent it back and spun again

They’ve been ‘returns only if not described accurately’ with me, which isn’t true as the consumer rights act applies to second hand goods just as much as new. Then again, they’re not the only ones to have never heard of the CRA, several camera shops including Leica have tried the same game with me (without any success obviously)!

In summary I’d say give it a go but test carefully, all the moaning on here has probably depressed prices;-)

Flyer,   I had bad luck with MPB on two occasions with M cameras.  The second time, they argued that I did not have the correct authorization for the return.  Eventually they took it back and refunded my money.  I took my chances and suffered the angst of online returns.  You may get lucky as other previous posters have written.  I learned and decided to simply use my local Leica dealer for new or used gear.  Even then, I get the guarantee in writing before walking out the door.  It gets down to the classic Clint Eastwood movie line in; "Dirty Harry"..."Do you feel lucky?"...   r/ Mark

I bought a used M11M which was basically like new, and a decent price at the time. It was a few thousand off the new price so I took it.
It had freezing issues which my regular launch-day M11 did not, so I'm pretty sure whoever sold it probably sold it because of that reason. Firmware updates seem to have solved the issues and the M11M runs like a clock now.

I think you can get unlucky with people selling a camera that has been giving them trouble, but firmware is reasonably mature now and I wouldn't hesitate to buy used especially if it's from a place that offers returns if you run into issues. If you're not getting along with it after a few months you can probably sell it and not really lose much (if anything).

MPB, oh boy!

I have nothing good to say about them, I have tried them a few times with Leica equipment, but every time it didn't look like they even checked if it was working.

I returned all the orders ant they took them back.

Hmmmm all interesting comments, well I have taken a chance and ordered on today for delivery tomorrow. I have 14 days to check it over and see if there are any faults which is not always the case if you buy private, and I also get 6 months warranty.

I have also had mixed outcomes with MPB over the years, some excellent and others, well not so good.

Hopefully it will be in the mint condition they say.

Thanks everyone for your advise.

My experience with MPB is great no issues at all, M11-P bought like new and it comes as described, same with lenses and other stuff.

Bought a used like new from MPB about a month ago for £500 more than now, but I at least got a decent serial number and as for new, it had been into Leica which half worried me but I scanned receipt in box for work carried out and asked them what had been done, it had been sent to Germany (from UK) for RF calibration. Had worked flawlessly so far :)

Can you establish the age via the serial number? What do you mean by got a decent serial number. Cheers
