rollsman4 Posted February 14 Share #1 Posted February 14 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have to pass on the Leica Zoom due to cost. Can you recommend a Zoom that will cover me for portraits and some Family Group shots. Thinking Sigma, Panasonic . I want a zoom that comes as close to Leica Zoom in IQ and AF and Skin tones. Thanks

PhotoCruiser Posted February 14 Share #3 Posted February 14 (edited) Check the Sigma Contemporary line up for more than good results, if you wan't to be super picky and pay more then the ART line from Sigma. The Nikkor 24-70 2.8 was the most used lens on my Nikon D800 if you are on a budget then the 28-70 F2.8 DG DN C Contemporary if you want to pay 300$ more for a bit better quality then the 28-70 F2.8 DG DN II ART both lenses will cover most of your other than mentioned photography too, so probably the best bang for the buck. Otherwise take a fixed focal length lens and use your legs to zoom, if you go in single person/face portraits then the Sigma 105mm what doubles also a excellent macro lens or the 85mm but without macro. jaapv Posted February 14 Share #4 Posted February 14 If you don’t need Autofocus I highly recommend a Vario-Elmar 35-70 4.0 R latest version on an adapter. It has a very subtle rendering especially for skin tones and an excellent closeup function.
