Sharpdressed Posted February 10 Share #1 Â Posted February 10 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I recently bought a 65mm Elmar (second black version) for the Visoflex reflex housing. I noticed that it slightly focus past infinity. It's not a big problem as you can see clearly when to stop but I remember to have read somewhere that it's a wanted feature (to correct for the various tolerances), is it true? Advertisement Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Hi Sharpdressed, Take a look here Visoflex lenses and infinity focus. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
mdarnton Posted February 10 Share #2 Â Posted February 10 (edited) It's really not a problem since you're not scale focusing anyway. This is common with special purpose lenses of all types, including some autofocus lenses because of the seeking nature of early AF systems needing to get on the "other side" of focus, even at infinity, and teles, which can drift in their precise focal lengths due to temperature changes. Sharpdressed Posted February 10 Author Share #3 Â Posted February 10 (edited) Year, probably I'm used to rangefinder lenses. Just for info, is there a way to register infinity focus on a visoflex lens that apparently has no bayonet or shims? lct Posted February 10 Share #4  Posted February 10 The 16464 universal focusing mount has a bayonet but no distance markings AFAIK. https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-CGRztX7/0/KsbdP89bN8JcLFH4kMQqhWFkWvH74bV2NGQdVb9mC/L/i-CGRztX7-L.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-8RkDPkt/0/KSXfh8LMw7WQ9B6nH72DGKGdzLDNP7jMn7F6NdTgm/L/i-8RkDPkt-L.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-VFp55qS/0/MN88nXTn86gxkh9RxNf9PMXMJqKBTZVJFL5bt2G7W/L/i-VFp55qS-L.jpg

I happen to have two 16464 adapters. Both show the same problem with the 65 elmar and both are fine with a 135 Tele Elmar head. I suppose that the adjustment should be made in the 65 elmar head. That's why I asked. Maybe It's just how the 65mm is supposed to focus, since it's not a common lens I haven't got any info about it's infinity behaviour. Sharpdressed Posted February 10 Author Share #6  Posted February 10 I probably found the answer: https://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/146251-telyt-∞-adjustment/ Essentially "The viso helicoid is made to focus past infinity so that various lens specs can be accommodated (there is a tolerance in the exact focus distance)."
