Hi all,

I’ve been using only internal memory with my quite new M11-P due to reading about freezing errors with SD cards.

However, I was able to shoot 1657 photos before it failed. During last shooting, it started to give error ”Internal memory error” always when taking a photo or viewing old photos. The error comes if I open Leica Fotos, connect camera to Mac or PC, view older photos etc. After the error message comes, no photos or folders are not anymore visible. I had starred photos that have not been transferred yet and used remove all except starred one and therefore I now have only corrupted photos and last shoot left. I’ve tried to move photos from internal memory to SD card, but that fails immediately with the same error message. Seems that everytime when transfer or reading starts, it reads from earliest image and fails there immediately.

I have not formatted recently internal storage as I hope to find some way to save the photos from last shoot.

If anyone has any suggestions, I would be more than happy to hear.

I have a brand new m11p purchased Feb 28 2025, having the same issue. I also decided to only use internal memory and only got 400 shots in. On my way back from a weekend trip, uploaded a few photos from the app to my iPad over WiFi. Disconnected after and flipped the camera on and it said internal memory full when it definitely is not full. I can, however, still view all the photos on the camera and in the app. Currently downloading them all so I can format and see if that fixes the problem.

Indeed, I've just had this on my M11D. I was using just SD with only raw saved to SD, I noticed the counter said 984 or something other than the usual 999. I had some images on a large SD card. I was at home and saved the images to the computer and formatted the SD card, left it out of camera. Then pressed the function button to see how many files I had it immediately said internal memory full and wouldn't let me take photo's. I formatted the internal memory with the app and again pressed the button, error came up and photo's impossible. I turned it off and this time just started taking photographs and it worked normally.

No idea what the issue was but rather disconcerting.

That doesn't bode well, especially with the M11D where it's harder to diagnose problems. If a full reset doesn't fix it, you should probably send it for warranty repair, since it's definitely still under warranty. As I mentioned in one of the beta test threads, I had that error once on my M11 after approximately 18 months of using internal memory exclusively. I switched to SD card first and haven't seen it since, but I'm now hesitant to use the internal memory for anything important.

It has fixed it and no files were injured (they were all on the SD anyway). Testing seems back to normal. Due to the better speed of transfer from SD I've gone back to using those.

I managed to (slowly) get all my photos off through the app with wifi and formatted internally and the problem went away. I have shot and transferred photos with the app since (trying to recreate the issue) and haven’t seen it. I’ll probably continue using the internal memory as I have the entire warranty left and would rather have the issue pop up again sooner than later, but will probably sick to an SD card if shooting something important

I like to have an in-camera backup. I write to two cards, if I had internal memory I would write to both memory and card, no reason not to.
