And here's another. I particularly like the graininess of this "look."

I bought it out of curiosity. Obviously, you're limited to the lens and the resolution of an iPhone (12 Mp). But the lens simulation thing is actually quite cool. I'm surprised that I like it so much. Here's one example.

Actually I completely agree and when using the iPhone I use Lux all the time ( ignore the stray wire.  Mollie doesn’t sit still often and I was having a play

I find the falloff in the depth of field to be quite realistic looking in close-ups. I had never considered paying for the app - especially because I hate app subscriptions - but I'm likely to keep using it after the free year is up. This is one of the more interesting iPhone camera apps I've seen (and I do try many of them, since I do a podcast about photography).

Cool B+W - I have found that I use the LUX styles more and more instead of going to Silver EFx Pro.

I will do app subscriptions if they work for me.  LUX will stay on my iPhone for the time being.

BTW - Where do I find your podcast?

My grip now paired fast and worked as it should. But, if I put the iPhone to sleep and wake it with the dedicated iPhone camera button (on the iPhone 16 pro) only the shutter button of the grip works. The wheel and fn buttons do not. So in my experience this update is an actual update, but Leica is not there yet.

I don't expect the iPhone to wake up the grip. But pressing and holding the shutter button on the grip to wake it up, then opening the Lecia app, should make the grip ready for use. And that's not happening.

I received my grip and case today from a local Leica dealer. It took a while to pair it first time from within the app, but after that it starts up after a few seconds of holding down the shutter button. I will probably extend the sleep time in the app. I was pleased that the shutter will start and stop video in Final Cut Camera without keeping shutter button depressed. The grip is secure on my iPhone 14 Pro in a leather MagSafe case. The start guide is rubbish - you have to play with the settings to get it right for your needs. My only problem is trying to get the Pro app code for one years free use. It didn’t come after registering the grip. Messaged Leica.

In case it helps anyone else considering purchasing the LUX grip, this is my research. I’m not a pro and I wouldn’t even call myself an amateur photographer. I am a traveller who likes to take pictures and video for the sheer enjoyment of doing that. I have been looking for a good grip for my iPhone for over a year. Even made my own! I have a pop grip. Fits in case but very limited in terms of grip and no functions. I looked at the Fjorden grip but reviews showed a poor case and if you stick it on to an existing case you lose MagSafe. The extra MagSafe application had poor reviews for safety. The Shiftcam is really a battery charger with a Bluetooth shutter attached with poor reviews on security of fitting. The Leica Lux promises better quality and I was already enjoying the LUX app pro for two months. I’ve gone with the Leica: LUX app for photography and Final Cut Camera for video. I can fit my Shure or Rode mics in the phone’s lightning socket and still use the grip. I’ll live with the cost!

I have the Lux grip on my 15 pro max and it's working perfectly. I have the app mapped to the programmable button on phone. So, if the grip goes to sleep, press the shutter button for 5 seconds and it wakes up, press the app button on the side of the phone and start shooting. I have a clear Iphone mag case that seems to make it feel even more secure than the bare phone.

The grip is slippery IMO, so I found a little screw with a loop on it for the tripod mount and attached a wrist strap to it. Works great. Pretty cool to have lenses from 28-135mm's. The 120mm Summilux is fantastic, as are both 50's and the 35. I'll try and post some samples soon.

My main body is an m10R, my AF for now is a Q and SL. I bought this grip for travel. I always bring my M10r/35 traveling and usually like to bring an AF setup as well. But sometimes i don't want to carry an m kit and/or a Q or whatever I brought. I'm hoping this little grip will suffice over my Q...So far I'm having fun with it.

Cheers

Leica has asked me to post this information:

There have been some questions in the forum about connecting the Leica LUX Grip to an iPhone.

Important: The Leica LUX App is required to use and pair the Leica LUX Grip.
With the purchase of the Leica Grip, customers receive free access to the Leica LUX App for one year.

Follow these steps to establish the connection:

  1. First download and open the Leica LUX App on your iPhone.
  2. Go to the Settings menu and select “Pair a Grip”.
  3. Follow the instructions in the app.
  4. Once successfully paired, a grip icon will appear at the bottom of the app, and the battery status will be displayed next to it.

If you still experience issues, restart the device or contact Leica Support for further assistance.

The problem isn't pairing, the problem is that when you wake up the grip and open the app, it's not available. You have to open the app's settings to get it to recognize the grip.

I've forgotten and repaired the grip several times, and that doesn't change anything. And Leica support answered my first email, telling me I was doing it wrong, and haven't replied to subsequent emails. This will be returned soon if I don't hear from them.
