LUF Admin Posted February 6 Share #1 Posted February 6 Advertisement (gone after registration) The Leica LUX Grip: Photographic precision for the iPhone This innovative camera grip ensures iPhone users benefit from a unique photography experience – perfectly complemented by the Leica LUX app. Wetzlar, 6th of February 2025. Leica Camera are launching the Leica LUX Grip for the iPhone; a camera grip that impresses with its intuitive operation and high-quality manufacturing while, at the same time, setting new standards for photographic precision using a smartphone. The Leica LUX Grip is similar to a classic Leica camera in terms of its handling and feel, and its clear design, sophisticated operating concept and easy attachment – guaranteed by secure magnetic MagSafe technology – improve the ergonomics and functionality of smartphone photography, taking it to a new level. The LUX Grip and iPhone communicate via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and are perfectly complemented by the Leica LUX app. Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! All of the LUX Grip’s physical controls consistently express Leica’s design philosophy and conjure the familiar experience of using a professional camera. Weighing just 130 grams, the Leica LUX Grip is comfortable to hold and is equally suitable for left- and right-handed users. The 2-stage shutter release focusses with light pressure and starts shooting when fully pressed down. A button allows you to quickly switch between shooting modes. Two control elements can be individually assigned and customised via the Leica LUX app. While one button provides quick access to frequently used functions, the easy-to-grip control dial enables the precise selection of camera settings – such as zoom, aperture, shutter speed and exposure compensation. This means that photographers have all the essential aspects of image composition in their own hands, even when using a smartphone. The Leica LUX app rounds off the photographic experience by adding the unmistakable image and colour aesthetics of legendary Leica lenses. The bokeh effect of the Summilux-M or Noctilux-M can be used to deliberately emphasise features while retaining full control over exposure, ISO and shutter speed. Unique Leica Looks, such as Vivid or classic Black&White, expand the artistic palette, lending digital photography an analogue character. The Leica LUX app forms a perfect symbiosis with the LUX Grip. The full version of the app is included for one year with every Grip product registration. The LUX Grip also sets the tone when it comes to sustainability. Thanks to its modular design, the Gripcan be easily reused with all electronic components every time you change your iPhone. Only the MagSafe base plate has to be replaced. Its powerful battery lets you take up to 1,000 shots and will be ready for use again in a flash with a charging time of 2 hours via USB-C. The Leica LUX Grip is now available in selected Leica Stores, in the Leica Online Store and from specialist retailers. The recommended retail price is £260.00 / €300.00 incl. VAT. The Leica LUX Grip Leather Case is also available for an additional £50.00.
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! kirkmc Posted February 6 Share #3 Posted February 6 (edited) Presumably, this is their version of the Fjorden grip. There probably isn't much of a difference, other than the price. This does look more grippable though. Edited February 6 by kirkmc

I guess it’s sold very quickly then. Update: just after posting this reply, I got an email from Leica saying that it was now available in the UK. The cylindrical grip makes it bulkier - less easy to slide into the same pocket where you'd normally put your phone. The magnetic attachment makes it easy to store separately though. kirkmc Posted February 6 Share #11 Posted February 6 True, but since it’s MagSafe, you can take it off easily.
Einst_Stein Posted February 6 Share #12 Posted February 6 I prefer the M (M11?) look with a cavity to insert the iPhone. Yes, the firmware should make it work exactly like M11.

luetz Posted February 6 Share #15 Posted February 6 Now that Fjorden is under the Leica umbrella, can we post images taken with Fjorden grips on our iPhones?
TL3 Posted February 6 Share #16 Posted February 6 They really should give an unlimited Lux subscription with purchase at that price point. Also would be good to make it compatible with other camera apps, like the default one for example.
luetz Posted February 7 Share #17 Posted February 7 Will the Fjorden Grip be available at Leica retailers as they are now part of the family?
intermediatic Posted February 7 Share #18 Posted February 7 Ironically, I just received the fjorden grip today. I am unclear as to whether I will return and get the Leica grip. I suspect there will be no more updates from fjorden to their product, but I am not sure I like the Leica grip. It’s quite a bump on the back of the phone. I bought the MagSafe grip adapter since I don’t use the case, but I don’t trust the grip by itself. I may yet buy the iPhone case for the fjorden and put the iPhone in it when I expect to use it. PhotoCruiser Posted February 7 Share #19 Posted February 7 vor 16 Stunden schrieb Cogito: can it be used with a MagSafe camera case? I have a MagSafe phone holder in my pickup truck and it holds my heavy iPhone 15 Pro Max in a case surprisingly well, but i happened that i did not connected it well and phone fell down. Not a big issue in a car but probably a recipe for disaster if filming over the head for example. Without case the connection may be a bit stronger but if phone fall then it's not protected at all. Honestly i would like to have a grip with a more safe connection than MagSafe. Chris
Joe Cunningham Posted February 7 Share #20 Posted February 7 On 2/6/2025 at 9:39 AM, Cogito said: can it be used with a MagSafe camera case? Yeah every photo I've seen of the grip has it attached to a naked iPhone. It would need to attach very securely to the back of a magsafe phone case for this to be a viable product - especially for Moment lens users for whom the case is thier lens mount.
