Hi all,

Last week I have asked IDSworks if they are interested to make a handgrip with ArcaSwiss profile for the Leica CL.

Since such a handgrip with ArcaSwiss profile does not excist for the CL -and I use my Tripod very often- I had to ask :)

IDSworks Is thinking it over.

So dear Reader, just in case you might be interested in this handgrip for your CL, write IDSwork a mail…

best regards,

René

Well,

thumps up for IDSworks putting effort into a design for an EOL camera body. I do acknowledge the benefits over the Leica handgrip, especially the accessible battery door, and keeping the option for a fingerloop. And thanks to you for pushing IDSworks to the drawing board.

Apart from my appreciation I honestly will not get one. For me the thumpgrip is enough to even hold the CL with the heavy 35/1.4 lens and the handgrip to my taste ruins the rangefinder style design. Next to that the grip is priced quite high. But having the option to buy one is better than not having it.

I agree with what was said previously, I find this new handle disproportionate for the CL...

I have the original Leica grip for my CL, but I don't use it.
I much prefer this half-case, which is no longer available but was very well made https://www.photospecialist.fr/artisan-artist-lmcl-cl-half-case-pour-appareil-photo-en-cuir-noir

There's a leather flap on the sole that allows easy access to the battery and card, as well as the tripod nut.
The small bump in front is sufficient for holding the device securely with one hand.

I use this half case with or without the Leica thumb rest, and I am very satisfied with this set which remains discreet but effective.

Though it was expensive, I bought one of these and I’m very pleased with it so far. I had one of the CL grips from Leica for years and it eventually began to come apart.

The build quality of the IDSWorks grip looks good. It’s very sturdy and light. The Leica grip weighs 89 grams while the IDSWorks weighs 58 grams. That’s noticeable.

Also, the cutout at the base allows the battery/SD card door to open without having to remove the grip, unlike the Leica grip which was always annoying.

I have always liked and used the Leica finger loops so I spent a little more to get one that allows me to attach the loop to it. So far that works well with IDSWorks grip.

I like the idea that they listened to you and produced the handgrip. For myself, I use my 18 mm lens with Leica's thumb support on my CL. To me, the weight of the CL plus the 18mm lens is almost negligible.
