algrove Posted February 2 Share #1  Posted February 2 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sure I have R 180 lenses and the APO 135 M lens, but I just want longer from time to time. Enter the Mamiya 300 5/6 lens with adapter. Since the M uses the center of the large optical field of the 300 and since most lenses are sharp in the center, this lens performs as good as my APO 135 when comparing at the same size. It even has a slide out lens hood and is fairly small in diameter. Who needs a M-M2x Kipon adapter when this 300mm lens and adapter sell for MUCH less.

When you crop a photo taken with 135mm to the size (field of view?) a 300mm gives you, both results have the same quality?

algrove Posted February 3 Author Share #4 Â Posted February 3 I just enjoy using it and that was my point when I want or need a long reach.
gammarART Posted February 3 Share #5  Posted February 3 I can definitely recommend the Canon FD 300mm f/4.0. It offers outstanding image quality while still being relatively compact and lightweight, making it easy to use handheld. One minor drawback is the focus ring: It is super smooth and buttery, but for my taste, it’s a bit too loose with too little resistance, especially when making fine adjustments.
