BernardC Posted February 3 Share #3 Â Posted February 3 YouTube searches can be useful if you want to see how certain things are done. Just remember that anyone who tells you to load a screw mount Leica by jamming a business card into the shutter, or without trimming the leader, knows less than you do. Trimming the leader takes a few seconds. You can eyeball it using the diagram that is on the inside most Leicas. The other "must know" is that you should cock the shutter (wind the film) before changing the shutter speed.
spydrxx Posted February 3 Share #4  Posted February 3 Trim the film leader, load the cartrige, wind the film, click the shutter, rewind the film, unload the film from the camera, repeat with a sacrificial roll about 20 times and you will have mastered the skills which so many newbies seem to be afraid of, yet which are necessary to operate a wonderful camera.
luigi bertolotti Posted February 3 Share #5  Posted February 3 Welcome to the Forum ! After loading a film, cocking the shutter and chosing time/aperture (if the lens is an Elmar 50, setting the aperture is an easy but unusual operation, typically "by nail") , you must frame AND focus the lens to your subject, another task to learn for newbies to Leica - see the manual. As you have surely noticed, there is NO exposure meter... you must manage this task.
