When we get temperature extremes like we've had recently (-15F), the ice expands rapidly producing large fissures like the one pictured below that cause icequakes. They feel very much like small earthquakes. We've had two in the past three days that shook the whole house for a few seconds. D-Lux 8 Welcome, dear visitor!
