You sure about that? I just saw the Leica Miami SL3S video and I must look again but Josh said to turn it off for test handheld results. Or am I wrong?

It seems meanwhile we have to deal with a bug in firmware. Please read the thread here. It seems Leica did forget to turn on IS for handheld Multi Shot. Anyhow we can only speculate on this. Did mail about it to Leica to check it out.

Someone corrected me on this. I had it backwards, it’s on and stays on in handheld mode. Leica Miami video compared on a tripod with and without motion correction.

Please post link. I tried all settings! Fact stays my Pana S9 is much superior right now in handheld! To say it clear, current handheld of SL3-S is a fail! Prove me the opposite!

You cannot turn motion artifact removal for handheld multishot (always on). That option works only for tripod multishot.

Ok. I guess you don't have one in hand.

So do you have one in hand? It is either yes or no.

No. I asked the question for clarification from someone who has the camera. They provided clarification that I saw the motion correction option incorrectly. It’s always on in handheld, which makes sense.

I am more concerned about artifact issues which what I was talking about when referencing the Leica Miami video.

I get mine tomorrow since today was a holiday.

Agreed on artifacts being a concern. Their comparison was tripod mode with and without motion correction.

For best resolution for static subjects: no motion correction with tripod mode

If you have to deal with motion and you’re on the tripod, motion correction can help but may introduce artifacts.

For handheld, you have no choice and must use motion correction. It may or may not produce an image preferable to standard DNG.

i have the sl3-s since first day if you read the thread. I traded in my SL3 as SL3-S fits better for me. As we all want to know about this new great baby, please tell me, what I should check out for you.

I do not get you! You will love it when you get it tomorrow! Just trust me! Please do not be so sensible! It is for me the best Leica ever! You will say tomorrow too, when you have it in hand! I promise you!

this is the point! tripod mode is super outstanding! less noise than sl3 according to thread opener here! it is all about the handheld mulitshot! there Leica has to and for sure will improve!

I have one in hand, SL3S that is. The camera did an update when initially setting up. It has firmware 21.0, It took some time for sure. I want to test stitching multishot panos, should be a big file. I will do some testing but others will have their copies soon by the sound of things. I have a hospital appointment tomorrow so that is my day gone for testing.  I will grab a few shots on the journey by train tomorrow.

Well, firstly, I hope the hospital visit goes as well as possible.

Secondly I look forward to seeing the results of your experimentation with multi-shot.  Seriously considering the SL3-S for my eclipse trip instead of my current SL2 due to the low-light capabilities and hand-held multi-shot.

For an ecliose event, I would think a tripod is good to use. If so, Multishot should work excellently.

Perhaps not with an SL23S.

Why not? All tripod multishot systems work on the same principle (pixel shift) and require a very stable shooting position so that every pixel describes the same part of the scene. Of course, the proof will be once tested on the boat, but one should not be surprised if it does not work.
