I was really disappointed with the misfocus on this shot so not thinking it was recoverable I went to Topaz and gave the face recovery a go. I thought I had only selected one face, the main subject but the app has tried to give eyes and sharp glasses to the people in the background. One is left with a weird image if its inspected closely but it did sharpen the girls face.

I only use Topaz on rare occasions and Adobe Denoise mostly along with ACR with the sharpen module at the end of processing. .

I see what you mean but you can choose which face(s) you want to enhance and there is a masking tool as well And intensity sliders. Using it on automatic can produce  unwanted results.

I like to use it in conjunction with photoshop because you have layers, for example in this picture in which the face was slightly ‘out’ possible though motion of the dog & slow shutter speed - indoor lighting. I super focused the subject then deliberately increased the intensity so it was too sharp. This enabled me when back in Photoshop to place a black mask ( hide the super focus effect) & with a low opacity soft white brush gently allow the effect through where & by as much as I wanted for my taste.

A good result, but one can still see the doubling-up artefacts if you are looking for them. I tend to finish up by applying some Gaussian Blur and then using USM to re-sharpen.

Agree, but to my defence I made this image for phone viewing (small screen) so I emphasised the sharpening effect
