Re Multishot on SL3-S, here is a video recommending using 2 sec delay when taking a handheld Multishot image:

What is interesting IMO, he says handheld was working better using the previous firmare, if I got it correct?

regarding "fastest camera..."  A sharp shot from today with the SL3, part of a series taken with 5 frames per second.... A lot of shots (more or less one sharp followed by 3 or 4 bad shots) are not sharp (beta version of animal detection).

Reason enough for me to get the SL3s asap as second body.... Hope the SL3s will do better.

Correct, something has changed between an earlier beta-version and the current FW. I guess things will improve with forthcoming FW-updates.

He is wrong about pixel-shift being used for handheld (it is technically not possible).

He accidentally got a successful multishot with 2-sec delay (one test). It may help by keeping the initial first shots (out of 16) stable but does not help with the subsequent shots. I have been testing with a 2-second delay, and it does not help.

I would use the 2-sec delay only in tripod mode (pixel shift), where absolute stability is paramount (eliminates camera shake when pressing the shutter).

He notices that the handheld multishot mode turns off AF-C, but he does not see that it also turns off stabilization (the reason for so many failed attempts).

I wondered about that, but his testing methodology is more anecdotal than scientific, so I would not count on it working better before. He does not realize that the focal length influences the handheld multishot's success rate (less movement between shots).

Lot of traffic.... Testing SL3-s today, foggy and cold day at a nature reserve in south of Germany😬 Despite fog and lack of contrast the AFc with animal detection worked extremely well - shot with 7fps (this one 500 5.6 and 1250 ISO), nearly no problem getting the shots I wanted ...  I´m happy 🍾

Fast is Good - I set the camera on "face and eye, body detection and then AFC. Lightening fast to pinpoint eyes if there is enough light. Even from a distance it locks on precisely and set wide open.

Camera set for AFC the subject remains sharp and tracks the subject whether you are moving or they are moving. Not all images are spot on sharp after viewing on the computer but enough for me to say I can shoot on the fly with the Apo Summicron SL 35.
