I have M240 and SL2. So I would comment M vs SLx.

1: overall, the best of the available M would be the best choice. It has the best form factor, the best battery life, etc.  To assist focusing and shooting waist level, I would add a EVF.  Do we need to talk about the image quality? !!

2:  second, the best SLx you like. It is more flexible. bully in EVF, can be adapted to use all Leica lenses. But the battery usage is much worse than M.

My vote will be for the SL3S-24MP pixel pitch (PP) of 5.94 um. The M240 had a PP of 6.05 and the M10 (24MP) had the same PP of 6.05. Both were my favorite looking images and most still are today.

That said the EVF on an SF camera makes for easy use of M lenses for my old eyes.

Best Leica camera in 2025 for using/focusing M lenses?

2024 is just a few weeks ago.

what has changed since then

The new SL battery cannot be worse than using an M240 continuously with EVF which is the like comparison. Perhaps the large M11 battery comes the closest to the SL3.

For who want EVF all the time, SLx might be the better choice.  There are time EVF is useful on M, but only occasion.

~80% occasion here. Batteries of the M11 are stong enough for me but i turn the LCD off most of the time. YMMV.
