Oren Posted January 12 Share #1 Posted January 12 Advertisement (gone after registration) Can anyone recommend a wrist strap for the Q3 43 that doen't rely on metal rings/triangles? Peak Design is not an option for me as I don't want to force the anchors through the camera's lugs using dental floss. Thanks!
Advertisement Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Hi Oren, Take a look here Wrist strap for the Q3 43. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted January 13 Share #2 Posted January 13 It is nothing like forcing- the only thing you do is overcoming the stiffness of the wire. If a metal eyelet cannot withstand the pulling through of a flexible connector it can certainly not be trusted to carry a camera.

I use a split ring on the lug and then thread through the PD anchor easily.
roverover Posted January 13 Share #5 Posted January 13 If the metal rings are pose a "cosmetic" threat, these Artisan & Artist silk wrist strapz have a leather protector attached. thetoness Posted January 13 Share #8 Posted January 13 Just use dental floss to pull the anchor thru the eyelet. Super strong. No chance it would ever break.

This will work, but please be aware that its not a good idea on all camera brands!! Some of the camera eyelets have a sleeve in them (it looks like the Leica ones are machined from a single piece so no sleeve), if the sleeve is not positioned abolsutely perfectly then the edge of the sleeve will rub against the Peak Design Anchor, which causes premature wear. This is very true of Fuji cameras and indeed it is not recommended to use the Anchor in this way on a Fuji Camera - I went for the additional split ring approach as thats what I have always done. It’s worth noting that if two surfaces rub the softer of the two will wear, PD’s have a yellow inner wear core for observing. I’m happy with this as it protects my camera lugs against potentially harder split rings.

jaapv Posted January 13 Share #15 Posted January 13 In that case there is always Luigi. https://luigicases.com/a000-WristStraps.htm But the leather bit of the "Genius" strap will take some forcing through the lug, reason why he offers a supplementary split ring. However, he used to make them for normal lugs as well, I had a few for over twenty years now, and as he does specials, he might make you one too. You can add the below photograph as reference. Note - although his site is technically up to date - don't be put off by the vintage design. It has been like this since the turn of the century. Products highly recommended. Welcome, dear visitor!
