Lovely photograph!

I remember Garbage quite well. They were very successful in the UK and had a lot of air-play. I had no idea of their backgound so thanks for the bit of background story.

Philip.

Prior to retiring I occasionally did band photos for album covers and posters. This was a local group called Firetown, which was very popular in this area for several years. I became friends with two of the members, Duke Erickson (2nd from left) and Butch Vig (far right) and used to hang out at their recording studio occasionally where they produced songs for Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, the Foo Fighters and several others.  In 1993, Butch, Duke and another Madison musician named Steve Marker, signed up a Scottish singer named Shirley Manson and formed the rock group, Garbage. They hit it big and went on several world tours over a 30 year period, performing at huge sold out venues. I think their last tour was in 2022 but I wouldn't be surprised to see them do another.

Yes, very reminiscent of the 'old style' of band photo... but I can't condone using a railway line which is clearly in regular use.

I know you're probably going to say 'We were careful' etc. but the point remains. There have been a number of tragedies involving those who don't appreciate the risk. See here and here for starters.

I could obviously see down the tracks in one direction and the band members could see in the other, so I can't agree with you that we were putting ourselves in danger. Also, these tracks are used for freight, not high speed passenger transport.

Thanks for your visit, but why have you linked to a photo of a Bangkok Skytrain?

It was from your website and looked very much like it was shot by standing on the adjacent track. No big deal one way or the other.

There's no reason to make an issue out of this. My point is simply that there are safe ways to conduct oneself and when I did my photo above there was no danger whatsoever, just as there was likely none when you shot yours.
