Aktenschrank Posted January 9 Share #1 Posted January 9 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I´m thinking about finally upgrading from my SL2 to an SL3, however I´ve seen earlier reports that the SL3 at the time of launch did not have/apply color correction profiles for M Lenses to correct for color shift. For me personally that would be a bit odd as I'm using it a lot with (also older) M lenses. Since I do not have an SL3 I cannot verify that this has been fixed by one of the firmware updates that have been released since launch. Does anyone now? Many thanks for your help! Photoworks Posted January 9 Share #2 Posted January 9 The M lenses perform the same on SL2 and SL3 All Leica M lenses with 6bit coding get all the color correction you are used to in SL2 There is no guarantee on lenses without 6Bit coding. older film lenses and other brands may not perform the same. I was assuming the same of course but Sean Reid reported in June last year that this is not actually the case. I cannot replicate his (paywalled) content here, but he has clearly shown that the SL3 either grossly undercorrects or not corrects at all for color drift (with coded M lenses and the Leica adapter). Hence my question if this has been addressed in the meantime per e.g. a firmware update. I was looking through the firmware update logs but have not seen this mentioned, so I guess I can assume this has not been addressed... which would be a pity. I suppose I am misinformed, but I have many 6bit lenses from 21-90mm and use them on SL2 and SL3, and I have not seen a difference. Is it one specific lens? I do see some difference in these shots but definitely nowhere near as obvious as Seans test from last year would suggest.
