Wolfs head Posted January 8 Share #1 Posted January 8 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have reached an age/state of health where even carrying my Q2 all day is a problem. I’ve been wondering about a C-Lux as a travel camera - it seems to do most of what I need whilst fitting in a small waist pouch. Originally, it seems to have sold for £875 and most of the recently sold ones have fetched £750 or so. There aren’t many around - I really don’t want the ‘gold’ version. A ‘like new’ grade midnight blue one has just appeared at MPB priced at £964 - which seems very high. Is this a victim of the new trendiness for compact cameras, unrealistic pricing policy or a fair price? Any advice will be gratefully accepted. best wishes AlanJ
Advertisement Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Hi Wolfs head, Take a look here C-Lux in the UK. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wda Posted January 8 Share #2 Posted January 8 AlanJ a Google search gave me this information The Leica C-Lux is a re-badged version of the Panasonic Lumix ZS200, also known as the Lumix TZ200 or TZ220 outside of the US. The C-Lux is a premium edition of the Panasonic camera. Here are some of the features of the Leica C-Lux and Panasonic Lumix ZS200: Lens: Both cameras have a 15x optical zoom lens with a coverage of 24-360mm and a maximum aperture of f/3.3-6.4. Sensor: Both cameras have a 1-inch sensor with a 20.1MP resolution and an ISO limit of 25,600. Video: Both cameras can capture 4K video footage up to 30p. Photo technology: Both cameras have Panasonic's 4K PHOTO technology. Viewfinder: Both cameras have an electronic viewfinder (EVF). Touchscreen: Both cameras have a large touchscreen. I find the evf too small for regular use and much prefer the next size up, viz. the D Lux range.. I have been well- pleased with my D Lux Typ. 109. There are Lumix equivalents in both C and D Lux ranges at slightly lower prices. Performance is identical. It is personal choice which version you select. I hope this helps. Higher prices reflect supply and demand. Pana-Leicas are excellent cameras. That is why few reach the marketplace.
Wolfs head Posted January 8 Author Share #3 Posted January 8 (edited) Thanks, David. I’d read this ( and a great many others too) - my question was whether £100 above new price was reasonable. I’m really looking for information on the current state of the second hand market in the UK…. I’m currently using a Sony RX100iii for this purpose, but for no sensible reason, I’d like to make all my cameras Leica. best wishes AlanJ Edited January 8 by Wolfs head Clarity
wda Posted January 8 Share #4 Posted January 8 The answer to your specific question is very personal and very subjective. I would need a lot of persuading before I would buy that model for such a high price.
Weltraumpräsident Posted January 8 Share #5 Posted January 8 Lets say in Germany i observe the market, and the price is normally not that high. I own the one in midnight blue I paid 700 euros two years ago for a used one

I’m inclined to agree… unless the much hyped revival in compact cameras is distorting the market, it would seem very overpriced. It will be interesting to see whether it sells (but it won’t be to me!) best wishes, AlanJ
earleygallery Posted January 8 Share #7 Posted January 8 Advertisement (gone after registration) Buy the Panasonic version, it’s got the same Leica branded lens and they come from the same factory.

From the same supplier, the Panasonic version is £879 in only ‘excellent’ condition - which isn’t all that much cheaper. Once again it’s about £150 above the new price… best wishes, AlanJ
earleygallery Posted January 9 Share #9 Posted January 9 Very surprised that used prices are so strong for these!
wda Posted January 9 Share #10 Posted January 9 If consumers are entirely happy with slightly older Lumix/Leica models, they have less incentive to upgrade. Hence prices creep up.
