Leica M11 OVF Flash icon

I just picked up the M11 glossy black and noticed that whenever I set the shutter speed to 1/180th or lower this flash icon lights up in the OVF next to the light meter. Is this a normal thing on the M11? I dont have anything installed in the hotshoe, just the plastic cover.

It is normal if you have a flash installed but with the plastic cover i don't know sorry.

I just did a quick check as I never noticed what you describe.

With the hot shoe cover on and setting the shutter speed to 1/180th or lower on the M11 ( Silver), I do not see the flash icon. I only see the flash symbol if I attach a flash, which in my case I tested with the Leica SF 60.
