What are we loving to use with the M11 ( cases and accessories)

I wanted to start an up to date thread and see what everyone's M11 kit is like. What do we consider to be the very best and must have on our M11s?

I was at a Leica M event held my a nearby city's Leica store and was surprised that half the attendees actually preffer their M's as is, naked, no case, no Visoflex, no bag even. Either a hand or neck strap and that's it. Some had over the top stuff and some in between.

Currently, this is what my carry kit looks like:

M11P obviously

Either or both the 50 Noctilux and 35 APO

An old leather bag that I have repurposed for the M11p as its small and just about fits, really need a good insert though.

Visoflex 2 though I am refraining from using it for now.

A hand strap by Rock and Roll. Looks terrible but very comfortable nappa braided leather. Most comfortable hand strap I have owned hence I am keeping it on.

Of course memory card and back up. No spare battery but charging cable in bag.

Follow up question: what would you say is the smallest available bag insert made for a Leica M and one lens attached? Would be interested in one also for an M with lens plus extra lens. Thank you

If you're just looking for an insert rather than a bag, take a look at the Artisan and Artist Gear Bag inserts. Particularly the 63D if you're looking for a body with lens and an extra lens

When shooting I prefer the M11 naked. Nothing attached (except of the strap which  currently is the standard one with which it was delivered. Also tried the ioe greer short one on my MP). I am still thinking whether a thumb hold makes sense but that‘s probably it.

To carry it around I either use the URTH Nororite backpack including their insert or a URTH Sling which is way smaller for an M11 and a analog point n shoot (contax T2 for exmaple).

Here's my list - probably not normal for most Leica shooters, as it's a lot of stuff:

Leica M11 with Really Right Stuff L bracket for the grip, the Arca Swiss tripod connection, and a little protection in case of a drop.

Zeiss 18mm F4, 28mm Elmarit, 35mm LLL 8 element, 50mm Sumicron V4, 75mm APO, and 135mm APO

In the pocket: lens brush, close-up adapter, 39mm variable ND filter, LLL 1.4 eyepiece magnifier, extra glasses, allen key for adjustments, micro cloth

This all fits into a Wotancraft bag (yes it's true):

To make it work, I stack lenses, put the 50mm on the body, and I use the little pouch that the Visoflex came in for the 35mm F2 and put that in the space created by having the lens on.  A smaller strap would be helpful - but I like this one. Entire set-up weighs 8 pounds. Acceptable in my world.

I love the Wotencraft bag!  I have several Billingham bags - and they work great as well, but I don't find that I save anything by using them. They hold the same amount of gear and are a bit larger. The pockets are bigger though.

Fogg Soprano is perfect for one camera and lens attached.  Not the cheapest option but you bought a Leica so why not buy the best quality bag to go with it.  It will also take a second lens, but maybe not the big fat Noctilux 😂

Next size up 3.5L

I have the smaller one also - which holds body w/VM 40mm f1.2 in main compartment and 28mm & 75mm in adjacent w/divider. Not much room for anything else in the small bag, except maybe one filter in the pocket.

..thanks for the feedback!

Looks very nice and well made.

How are you finding that "Swivel Snap Hook"?
In the video (on the product page of the smaller version) it looks like one would be able to easily open that without noticing (meaning it'd be not hard for a thiev to steal something) - do you reckon this is the case?

Thanks!

Actually - if you are not familiar with how the opening latch works, it’s not easy to get open. It slides to the side in only one direction, and magnetically latches itself to close. Not that intuitive, so probably a good safety feature. It works great once you get used to it.

The one thing I don’t like about these bags are the swivels on the shoulder strap. Seems like a good idea - but in practice I am constantly having to turn one side or the other to get the strap straight. It would be better if they were just sewn in place like on the Billingham (and most other bags). Small thing though considering the other great features!

Same here - if I am only bringing one lens, I just have the camera on a strap with a thumbs up. If more than one, I’ll bring my Billingham Hadley Pro Small.
