Advertisement Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Hi pippy, Take a look here Light Lens Lab 50mm f/2 "Rigid" Announcement. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Smudgerer Posted January 30 Share #42 Posted January 30 My Black Paint LLL 50mm Rigid arrived yesterday after a six day "sight-seeing" tour of Europe thanks to a Fedex cock-up............Haven't used it yet but it is a thing of beauty, and feels great in the hand / on camera and the focusing is wonderfully smooth.
TomB_tx Posted January 31 Share #43 Posted January 31 I decided to send my LLL "rigid" to DAG to adjust the focus calibration. When I asked him about it he responded: "Yes, I can adjust focus on your Light lens. I always wonder why they didn't call it a Lights Lens." His humor eases the cost of this a bit... 1

Sent my rigid to Don yesterday, same story- slight back focus.

The resale value of these knockoff lenses has been pretty bad, while a real one generally goes up in price. The “Leica Look” works only with a Leica lens…📷 Welcome, dear visitor! algrove Posted February 4 Share #48 Posted February 4 Guess until corrected you will have to use it with an EVF.

Not sure yet how big of a problem it will bet yet. Depends on what types of pictures I take with it. Most will not be near the min focus distance. algrove Posted February 4 Share #50 Posted February 4 Not tested it yet. Sure hope it does not back focus.

For the sake of clarity, my “slight” back focus means wide open, at minimum focus distance that the point of focus is just barely in front of the front edge of the DOF. At 2+ meters, the DOF is enough to encompass the plane of focus. Edited February 5 by mdg1371

Yes, mine is near the min focus, which is why I said, most likely would not be a problem because most of my pictures are not taken at that distance. algrove Posted February 5 Share #53 Posted February 5 Guess using an EVF is the only way to get it right.
Rus Posted February 5 Share #54 Posted February 5 Just curious how come some of you good folks got your copies so early? I thought shipping doesn’t start until 15 Feb 2025 according to LLL website?

I guess Popflash received there shipment early and then shipped there orders.

Yeah, I think sometimes they have fewer preorders than the number of units received in the first shipment, so they have extras to list on their site sooner. Looks like they have all except the black paint in stock. I guess the black paint was the most popular, that is what I got.

I ordered from the LLL website right after it was available— minutes after it went active, and before the email went out announcing availability. 1
Big Jim Posted September 8 Share #59 Posted September 8 Hi I wondered what users impressions were of this lens now that it’s been available and probably used for a while ? I’ve been looking for an original Rigid or DR for a long time and am wondering if this LLL is considered a good alternative
TomB_tx Posted September 8 Share #60 Posted September 8 I have 2 original Rigid (and a DR) and got an early LLL Rigid to compare. When I got the LLL it had a bit too much front-focus, so I had DAG adjust it and it came back perfect, and cost plus DAG charge was still reasonable. (However, another forum member was told by DAG that his LLL had too much glue inside to recalibrate: sample variation.) Whether using or looking at results I can't tell which lens it is, so I think it's a very good "re-creation" - especially for the cost. I like that it focuses to .7 m instead of 1 m like the original. But others may be more critical of small image differences than I am - but I don't notice any. Got mine from Popflash Photo.
