NYCV Posted December 11, 2024 Share #1 Posted December 11, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I had this camera listed on eBay as Leica IIIa Monte en Sarre camera.. customer had question how the serial number 359200 is not aligned properly as compared to others that are on ebay.. the serial number compared to others is shifted slightly to left... my question is there also internal serial number that I can verify that it is correct serial number or is it a stamp misprint ? or a fake camera ? How much shifted is not always the same, it depends how the engraver spanned the top cover in pantograph. Generally the N is approx in line with left edge of acc shoe. None of the camera that I identified has serial shited that much as 359200. Starting from apporx 3594xx serial is shifted more to the right but not centric vs acc shoe. Serial shifted to the left as on camnera in question does not neccessarily mean to me that the camera is not genuine. There is a second serial number hidden under the top cover that shall be inspected. Welcome, dear visitor! Welcome, dear visitor!
