Recently revealed? It's been in the manual and quick start guide since day 1.. 

As far as I'm aware the button combination is the only way to reset the M11-D, personally my grip strength isn't good enough to do it singlehanded so I used both hands.

it does have fewer options, and less chance to make a mistake.

Yes, it's not recently revealed, it was in the manual!

I think the combo of fotos with background transfer makes the M11D such a compelling prospect. The only limitation for me is that I'll typically use some lenses such as my SEM 21 with a screen camera if I want to be able to frame in camera and the lens doesn't fit the framelines/viewfinder.

😀haha, yes, just saw it in the manual on page 78.  I guess that's what I get for having the habit of not reading manuals or skimming quickly through sections that I thought were not of importance. 🙂 I did the M11-D reset and it worked perfectly. Thanks All!

Seriously, get an iPhone. The ecosystem is much better. All my MacBooks, iMacs, iPhones sync messages/apps seamlessly.

No way. I love my Imac and Macbook but I hated anything iOS. Iphone, Ipad, terrible devices (for me). I won't tell anyone what they are to buy or like because that is ridiculously overbearing (especially towards a total stranger), but for me, the freedom of Android and the privacy of Graphene OS are nothing I'm willing to part with. I don't even need those features so badly, I'm just annoyed they didn't communicate it and made me waste time.

I think the fotos app is the one thing I’ll miss when the m11 goes. Personally wish there were a few more preferences and options, but it’s a pretty clean feeling product and has worked well for me. The only weirdness is that it references the ‘Leica looks’ that it knows you can’t use with your connected camera since in my case I only have an m11 paired why not just hide it rather than rub it in (pretty silly imo). 
 

The new addition of background sync is the kind of thinking I’d hoped more for with Leica and the m11 but nice to see them doing something that seems to have been given a fair bit of thought and tested. Haven’t used in anger but can see it being quite a nice feature especially just clicking favourite on pics and having them appear on your phone without having to interact with the app or anything. And it’s nice they give them a preview_ filename to make it easier to know what’s what.

Only my second update and the look of the progress screen also much better and more modern. It did stick quite a bit early on but definitely nudged along for the latter two thirds of the time. 
 

Compared to the YouTube demo my pics come through quite a bit more slowly on an iPhone 12 Pro, maybe the newer devices are much quicker. 
 

Don’t think I’d have a use for it but the shutter release seems good to have in any case. 

I didn’t reset the camera but u re-paired it fit good measure (it wasn’t necessary as it worked  first time but thought I’d see if it increased sync speed - it didn’t). 
if you do reset the camera, can you set the frame numbering as you had it or are you forced back to 1? At least the m11 is very basic but still a bit annoying to have to reset and get everything set up again. 

 

I do hope they continue to work behind the scenes on the firmware stability even if they don’t mention it. I may have been unlucky but I’ve still experienced far too many things since owning it.  It dwarfs anything experienced on any other camera I’ve owned, including one I’ve had over 8 years. So I just don’t think I’d ever trust it even if it was the perfect camera in every other sense (it isn’t).

Oh… that “accessories” connection is nice.. I was dreading having to update 4 cameras, but this definitely makes it easier.

You actually can now use Leica looks on the small social media background downloads. The look good with one of those and than a quick run through my favourite homemade preset on snapseed

That would be tough to do, since I only have an iPhone. But actually, I was referring to firmware version 2.2.0 for the M11, which is what the question was about.

Beta testers are volunteers who use their own phones to test (if necessary). Some have Androids, and some have iPhones.

I have tried this with no success yet:

- checked that the M11 is now on firmware v 2.2
- checked that the phone (Android v15) Leica Fotos app is updated v5.0
- removed the M11 from my bluetooth devices on my phone
- removed the M11 from the camera devices on the Leica app (and there are no other devices)
- uninstalled and reinstalled the Leica app to start over
- while installing, I gave the app access to geolocation and files
- added the camera back onto the app

In the  "···" menu I still only see:
- Date and Time syncing
- geotagging
- remove camera

I am currently traveling and not in the US. Does geo location have anything to do with this?

Ah interesting I’ll have another look. I just pressed the symbol top left and was given the ‘this is what you could do if only your camera were compatible’. 
 

I wonder if looks on preview is an oversight, or the start of something bigger? or a halfway house to appease some without offending others - as no real m photographer would use an ooc preview anyway of course.

My shots are 99% in monochrome so the Leica look brass turns it into a gentle sepia which gives the warm print I favoured in wet darkroom work. from there it goes into snapseed where I add some 'drama' and a frame. SoMe ready when out and about. Not a patch on something done properly later but on a phone no one is going to tell the difference and it takes 30 seconds to get an image out.

I think I have got it working on Android!

 

Make sure you have latest firmware and App installed then:

 

(1) Delete all cameras from Fotos app

(2) Delete camera in Bluetooth settings

(3) Go to settings on your phone>apps

(4) Select the Leica Photos App.

(5) Go to Storage & Cache

(6) Clear Cache

(7) Restart Phone

 

Once the above is completed go to Leica Fotos on your camera Menu

Select Pairing and the App should work just like the Video.

 

I am using Google Pixel 6 on latest Android version.

It won't. I tried this process several days ago when I first discovered the features were missing on Android but not on iPhone. What that process will do is make the camera available to add to the app as shown in the video.

I noticed that the Android app listing in Play Store doesn't show background transfer as being one of features while the iOS app does. My guess is that it's only for iOS at this time, which Leica should've made clear in the promo material for the update.

A brief hope that someone got these two new features working on FOTOS 5.0.0 for Android. I agree some sort of Android caveat/communication should have been included upon release. Hopefully something is in the works to add these two new features to Android FOTOS app soon.
