Ken Abrahams Posted May 9 Share #144 Posted May 9 Its' what they don't say about the firmware updates that is interesting. Good news however, about the few small items getting fixed 12 months after release. Thank you Leica.

Not sure what you wrote and/or wanna know, i guess what it is Zitat Commission Regulation (EC) No 1275/2008 of 17 December 2008 implementing Directive 2005/32/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council with regard to ecodesign requirements for standby and off mode electric power consumption of electrical and electronic household and office equipment (Text with EEA relevance) It must be some changes on standby and standby networking mode as above, however only Leica know what exactly it changes and if user notice any change. LocalHero1953 Posted May 11 Share #149 Posted May 11 Updated my SL2-S via SD card - no problems.
LocalHero1953 Posted May 11 Share #150 Posted May 11 Any indication that there are lens updates embedded in the various SL firmware updates? I didn't see anything on screen as I updated the body with the 24-90SL attached. I don't want to be taken by surprise by an update happening when I change lenses in a hurry, but nor do I want to mount all my lenses one by one if it's not necessary.
Jonathan Levin Posted May 11 Share #151 Posted May 11 My 24-90 shows version 3.0 on my SL3. Only camera updated this go around. 1

But: It's not because customers are insatiable; it's because suppliers are releasing immature products onto the market. You may have heard software developers say: 'Software is like bananas; it ripens after being purchased by the customer.' I mean, the SL3's animal recognition feature is still in beta. After more than a year! WTF?

Yes Chuck you are probably right as my old 601 which still feels great in the hand, lies dormant in a cupboard. I just didnt update it until recently. Stuart Richardson Posted May 14 Share #160 Posted May 14 (edited) You don't have to update. Personally, I have no idea what Lot6/Lot26 EU regulation is, and it does not sound like it is critical to my photography. Leica has not made any mention of what this does, and there are no other problems in my SL2/S cameras, so I see no reason to update. There is always a non-zero chance of an error or even bricking your camera when you update. If Leica cannot offer any compelling reason to update, I can't see a reason to bother. It sounds to me like something that would just put the camera into sleep mode faster or something. Unless there there is a clearer reason, I will stick with what I have...
