I always cover up any logos and other stand out markings on all my cameras with black electrical tape. Basically anything to make them innocuous as possible. Luckily the Q2 monochrom has no red or even black Leica dot. I use peak design black shoulder/neck straps and and a wrist strap. The last thing I want is to stand out from the crowd especially for street shooting

Speaking of blinging, this horrendous colourful body cap is just released. Go get a full set,

That about sums it up 🤣

That's a bit rough on unparalleled "innovative thinking"; don't you think? Lots of potential IP lurking somewhere in there?

I'm in the anti-bling brigade - I don't want to draw attention to my camera, and I have no use for thumb rests, shutter releases etc. The only thing on my camera is a wrist strap. But I'm a tolerant sort of guy, so if people want to deck their cameras out like a Christmas tree, then I am willing to pay tribute to the variety of human nature. And I can well understand that the more colours and the brighter the better.

Perhaps someone should sell luminous paint for improving the after-dark look - paint your signature on the front? Or mini flashing LEDs to stick on different parts of the body? And this is before we get to custom sound effects for when the shutter release is pressed (train crash? Saturn rocket lift-off? climactic squeal?).

All good ideas and big opportunities there, but a wee bit over the top I would have thought

I find bling most interesting to observe and, to my mind, it settles nicely with the Facebook/Tik Tok/Taylor Swift mood of the times. Hence I should perhaps be apologetic for avoiding the concept. But all glory to those who indulge in bling, can't have enough of it and are in search of yet more bling

Looks good, even with that lens cap :)

How do you like the IDS grip?  And any links to your pics with the Shortstache filter?  I'm considering both for my Q2.

Everything I've added to my Q3 43 is there for good reason.

The LIM half case has a built-in grip and Arca Swiss plate, the wrist strap and thumbie give extra security of grip when carrying all day, the round hood allows use of a filter in macro mode, the UV filter is a necessity in my usual locations, sticky dots cover the Leica branding. Everything in black, my wife calls it the stealth bomber. Discretion assured.

Noticed a user mentioned referred to thumb rest as bling. This IMO is not bling, its to assist with the ergonomics.

I feel zero guilt over the black thumb rest on my 43 because I use it for completely practical reasons.

I feel zero guilt over my plain black Lim’s case because I use it for completely practical reasons.

I do feel a little guilty about the other accessory because I worry that the reasons I bought it might be seen as excuses.

Not specifically Q but the only unnecessary bling I run to nowadays is the Red  Dot on my rather worn Billingham for Leica bag. I fear nobody notices it…🥲

Has anyone defined bling?  To me it is decorative rather than functional.  When it is both it is a toss-up.  Gaudy pushes it toward the bling end of the spectrum.  A black after-market lens hood, cool.  Gold?  Maybe bling.  The after-market neck straps, grips, thumb rests and so on are useful.  Non-Leica is way cheaper and just as functional. Designing a lens hood that does not work with a lens UV filter is depressing.  The Chinese had a solution super quickly.  Leica could have fixed that problem by offering a fully functional lens hood to owners.

There seems to be a bit of group-think here on after-market gear.  OTOH if someone finds this aftermarket stuff useful who cares about group-think?  No one is obliged to buy anything or to report to anyone about what they have bought.  I buy what I find useful, not what someone else thinks I should or should not find useful.  And they have the same options.  ;o)

But mud flaps are definitely out.  I have to draw the line there.

The only bling I have on any of my cameras is black electrical tape to hide any logos or obvious identity features. Luckily the Q2 monochrom is already plain with no markings. I do the same with my Billingham camera bags by removing their logo The last thing I ever want is for my camera to stand out from the crowd!!
