grug norgy Posted December 3, 2024 Share #1  Posted December 3, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hey all, I am in search of a cover for my M6 TTL hot shoe, I recently purchased the Thumbs Up Hot Shoe Cover available at the Leica store , and it was too thick, i could get it in a few millimeters but it felt like i was going to bend the hot shoe metal. I then purchased the Match Technical Cover that sells at BH Photo, and whilst it does fit, it's way too snug, it requires a great amount of pressure to get it on, and then to get it off, you need to push it slowly on each corner to try to shimmy it out. I think that the Match Tecnical could pass but i am trying to find a cover that doesn't feel like it's going to potentially bend the hot shoe / take so long to slide off.  Any one find a plain black cover for my M6?  Thank you so much!  Peter

erl Posted December 3, 2024 Share #2 Â Posted December 3, 2024 Why do you need a cover for your M6 TTL? It was never originally supplied with one. Is your need for weather proofing, or just for aesthetics? I have operated various M's for nearly 30 years and never found a need for weatherproofing. Mine have ranged from Antarctica to the Sahara and other deserts, with no trouble. The M10 comes with a hot shoe cover, but it will not fit the M6's. 1
250swb Posted December 3, 2024 Share #3  Posted December 3, 2024 Can't you file or sand down the underside of the one you have until it fits how you want?
spydrxx Posted December 3, 2024 Share #4 Â Posted December 3, 2024 I always used a piece of black plastic which I filed and sanded to size. FWIW I've done that for all of my (Leica) cameras from Barnacks thru M bodies.
kroko Posted December 3, 2024 Share #5 Â Posted December 3, 2024 Buy a regular one and use a file. Takes like 10min to get it into shape. Or get a nice one from Kanto Camera.

(Found a lot of useful patterns on the Web that are easy and fast to print.) These fit the M6 & 7 hot-shoe perfectly, easy to slide in but not loose to fall out. Printed ones for the film speeds I use most - good reminder. Welcome, dear visitor!
