kl122002 Posted November 30, 2024 Share #1  Posted November 30, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Perhaps it sounds silly to ask, I was told this 135mm lens works better with M2 instead of M3, is that true ? Could it work on my M3 (DS) ? Some articles suggest it is using the 90mm frame lines and magnified by the googles on it. I always found 135mm frame line is a bit too close to the RF patch and hoping to have an other option. Thank you. Advertisement Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 Hi kl122002, Take a look here Elmarit-M 135mm F/2.8 on M3 (DS)?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Michael Geschlecht Posted November 30, 2024 Share #2 Â Posted November 30, 2024 Hello kl122022, Welcome to the forum. The 135mm f2.8 Elmarit with "goggles" works fine on "M" cameras with 90mm frames because the lens uses the 90mm frame lines to display the 135mm image. That is what the "goggles" are for. And that is why it is important NOT to try to remove the "goggles". M3 cameras do fine with 135mm f2.8 Elmarit lenses. Best Regards, Michael

Nonsense; marginallly (not so significant) the inverse has bit of truth : as Michael wrote, Emarit M 135 uses the framelines for 90 : M3 has a Viewfinder with more enlargement than M2 (0,91x vs. 0,72x, to cover 35mm focal) so on M3 you enjoy a bigger view. M2 rangefinder works to closer distance than M3's (0,7m vs. 1m) but this is not significant for the 135 which focuses to 1,5 m Finally, the other 135s (Hektor, Elmar, Tele Elmar, Apo Telyt) do work a lot better on M3 : they activate the 135mm framelines, which in M2 do not exist, so you need to focus in the usual VF/RF and frame with an external viewfinder.  Edited November 30, 2024 by luigi bertolotti
