I am always amazed when in a gallery how many people pitch up and then stand next to a (famous) painting and snap a selfie...without actually spending any time looking at the bl++dy thing! I was "tutted" by someone at a gallery in NYC as I was "in the way" of their picture as I was actually looking closely at it - presumably rather than simply "ticking it off" on some cultural instagram bucket list. I now tbh always make sure to get in the way of "me with a famous painting - aren't I so cool" w@nkers if I'm looking closely at a painting.
