Of all the fields I am the last
That my own face can tell,
Yet what with stone-pits' delving holes,
And strife to buy and sell,

That's left of Swordy Well.

Swaddywell Nature Reserve has served as farmland, quarry, bomb dump, city refuse site, and VW motor racing venue – but is now managed by Langdyke Countryside Trust as an important limestone habitat nature reserve to conserve its scarce flora and fauna.
