LocalHero1953 Posted November 22, 2024 Share #1 Posted November 22, 2024 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Jali is a master of the west African instrument called the kora. He is a third generation performer from Gambia, following his father and grandfather. The kora is a 21 stringed instrument, playing the rhythm on the bass strings with the right thumb, the melody on the high strings with the right thumb, and improvising with the forefingers. The sound (to western ears) is a cross between harp and flamenco guitar. Played by a virtuoso like Jali, it sounds wonderful. Taken with the SL2-S and 24-90SL with electronic shutter during the performance last night. Welcome, dear visitor!
