By whom and where? Sure, one day Leica will stop making but you will not find any statement saying it is 'limited', but several very reputable sources (we can start with "Neither the camera nor the lens is a limited edition or special release, but rather another finish option going into standard production." from Leica Miami) say otherwise.

Sorry @hdmesa, I was typing as you were posting!

An independent dealer in Japan showed me some writings in screenshot that Leica saying it's limited to 200 pieces. And then he deleted the picture, and claimed it's confidential because it's internal message from Leica.

I laughed at him, who do you think you are that Leica would disseminate the internal confidential message to you.

I don't buy this kind of crap, I think it's just his marketing hoax.

Yeah, if it were limited to 200 pieces, we'd see the edition numbering on the lens – "001/200".

Whether it's limited or not is still up to the discussion. I haven't heard anything official response one way or the other from Leica nor from any dealers.

My guess is it is just like M10-R BP. A reputable dealer in Asia offered to buy my M10-R BP for USD 9500, which I rejected.

Meanwhile the first dealer in Europe offered me the second chance to buy a M11 Glossy for USD 8300, which I am trying to resist the temptation.

Leica Miami mentions it is NOT a limited edition.

From your post it sounds like they are already discounting the M11BP since in the US it is US$9200 from Leica dealers.

I would like to see a M11-P Glossy Black special edition. Maybe a Josef Koudelka version etc, someone special.

Beautiful, but as many have pointed out here and in other forums the M11-P in BP would have been perfect. Maybe we can hope for a special edition will have this variant now that they have the glossy top and bottom plates. Maybe with some maybe a different leatherette and attached to some special, historically reverent photographer. Also, it doesn't say really that this is a limited run. Is this just in the roster as a variant now?

Just received my m11 black paint today.  Note that it does not come with the FOTOS cable or the charger.  Quality is very similar to my m10-R Black Paint.  Will likely sell my m10-R because I prefer the m11 series.

I picked up my M11BP (Glossy Black Paint) two days ago. For me an absolute beauty. Although slightly heavier than normal black versions (being brass top and bottom).

I know my German Leica dealer since a long time and I found him always very well informed and totally reliable. And perfectly honest, never trying to (over)sell. Sometimes even discouraging me from a buying idea which doesn’t make sense to me. In short: for me absolutely trustworthy.

His statement: the new M11BP is not officially limited, but production amount exactly like the M10-R BP. Not numbered but factually limited.

The paint on the M11 BP closely matches the M10-R, though it lacks the thickness and glossiness of older M6 Black Paint variations. The lens paint is a near-perfect match to the Millennium Editions, and the inclusion of a glossy back cap is a welcome addition. It's clear that Leica has listened to its customers and made the Black Paint finish accessible to a wider audience.

The M11 BP will probably be limited to the number of leftover M11 bodies they need to sell 😁

And that could end up being fewer than the M10-R BP for all we know.

First let’s get rid of the word “paint”. Nobody in Wetzlar is waving a brush or spraygun around. This is a synthetic, probably baked-in coating

On the Leica USA store, Leica refers to the M11 matte black as a coating. But they call the glossy black M11 finish a paint. Paint as a noun, not a verb. Who knows how they handle the application and finishing process.
