Freaking COLD. You're Welcome

I'll bring some chocolate from Switzerland…

So, my best compromise, with all 3 lenses and your chart (which I much prefer to the D70's :

- a slight frontfocus fully open (around the first "Leica" in front of the midline)

- a very slight back focus (in between the midline and the first "Leica" after that)

Not really a back-focus problem, more a front-focus one.

I have an M8 and started with the 24mm Elmarit (which is superb).

Then decided to buy a 50 cron (second hand, can't really afford a new one).

All second-hand crons available are pre-aspherical (and so inevitably "film"

lenses). The thing is, I have so far tried 4 different lenses and NONE

would focus at infinity - when set at infinity all focused at some point nearer

the camera. I have since tried other focal lengths and have been surprised

at how many (even new asphericals) don't focus to infinity.

I think I am becoming anal in this regard. I would advise anyone with an M8

buying a new or secondhand lens to try it at infinity before handing over your

hard earned cash!

Regarding above post. I forgot to say that at first I thought it was the camera,

so it went back to Solms. When it came back they say that they had only

tweeked the focusing cam. This now maks sense, as the 24mm is bang-on

focus at infinity.
