Perhaps the poster who ordered the M11 black paint could clarify if it has the M11-P goodies:

256 gb internal

Sapphire glass

CAI credentials

thanks

I ordered and heard it’s m11 based without m11-P goodies. Dealer didn’t know details either. I will have it in hand by next Tuesday if FedEx doesn’t fail me.

Makes sense as probably a stock of M11 bits around after introduction of P with its spec upgrades.

what threw me off is that dealer told me it has glossy black painted baseplate. I don't understand how it could be.

But I guess we will see when I get it next week. I will upload some pictures then.

Why not? If they can finish it in chrome they can finish it in 'paint'. Although it will be beautiful, don't confuse the 'paint' with paints of old which are now not used on environmental grounds.

like m10 style real baseplate,

If you look you will see a tiny round magnet on the inside of your baseplate. I would carry a spare, as if it falls off your camera will not work.😃

Well, this says something in itself, and brings up lots of questions. Were they defects? Why not just buy a camera, one camera, and use it for a few release cycles? Why the same camera over and over again? How many do you actually need and/or can shoot at any given time?  Were they backups? How many other cameras/systems do you own and use? The GAS on this forum sure is something at times.

Early on it was not clear if the M11 issues were hardware related or firmware related. I would get frustrated with the freezes and sell it, then the next time thinking I might get a better copy. Some of the turnover was freezes plus G.A.S. to try something else. The last M11 I had was mostly freeze-free, and I sold it for other reasons. M11M, I was under NDA for that one. My M11-D is solid and my current camera.

yeah. I call that a fake baseplate. I like m10 style real baseplate, that's why I still keep my m10-r BP.

I call it a real baseplate. The real question is whether they will sell batteries with a gloss black finish to match. I guess for the purest, the battery would need to have a brass bottom also. 🤷‍♂️

The digital baseplate was an affectation meant to emulate the film M experience. They would not have used it otherwise since it's not great for weather sealing.

I think this setup will keep me calm beyond the 21st of November.

Although the announced Noctilux BP is very tempting, not only style wise but also as a future collectible piece. 🫣

And that's a Summilux f1.4, not a Noctilux f1.2.  Maybe something else for all the early buyers to check before they buy 🤣

I have corrected my slightly misleading sentence. My setup has indeed a Summilux BP, nevertheless I’m tempted by the announced Noctilux BP. 😉

Yes, I am know the history of the base plate. I have two M film cameras and an M10-R. I did not have a problem when they dropped it for the M11. My post was more sarcastic than anything. The next complaint will be that the battery does not match the base plate.
