Got this FIOLA UVa filter with the insert that allows for changing aperture on Elmar 50/3.5 without removing the filter.

I can’t seem to find the right search term for Google to help me with the name of the insert.

I would like to know if it has relevance on other lenses than the 50/3.5.

Someone here surely knows 🙂

thanks

VOOLA (16621)

I believe it's only for the Elmar. I've seen it stated that it doesn't work with the Hektor (though a modified version that does was mentioned on the FM forum). I assume just the 5cm Elmar, but not really sure about the 3.5cm.

I'm amazed at the prices these things go for on ebay these days (though I probably shouldn't be - it's a desirable vintage Leica accessory after all). There's probably a gap in the market for a modern copy - maybe I should mention it to one of those companies in HK that makes replicas of the SNHOO filter adapter for the Summitar, or the metal ABLON copy I bought recently. Or perhaps they could improve on the VALOO aperture control hood, made for enlarging lenses but often used in the same way as a VOOLA + FISON/filter.

Oh wow. Just checked ebay.

€100+ seems a bit excessive for the slight convenience it provides. It is not like it makes an Elmar on a Barnack super easy or quick to use anyway 😄.

I wasn't looking for a VOOLA, just found the FIOLA filter at a price I couldn't pass - and the VOOLA was included.
