It wasn't that long ago that I was looking at the Sl2 and the Sl2s camera bodies, they were still pretty high up there in pricing. I decided to take a look today and they both pretty much range in the $2500-$2800 range from what I could find. Some even included the M to L adapter in the price. Is there a reason for such a sharp drop in the pricing? Are there issues that are now arising after the time they've been released? I briefly had a chance to try out the Sl2s at the Leica store and I found it to be an incredible camera with one of the most beautiful EVF's I've ever seen. Large, bright, and realistic looking. Surprised to see them so low in price now, although it makes me happy a potential buyer.

This price drop makes no sense to buy Panasonic. It makes it the best buy true Leica.

Adding M to SL adapter, you can use any M lenses; adding S to SL adapter, you can use any S lenses, not to mention you can use any SL lenses directly.

bought a brand new SL2-S for 2.700 euros last week. After I claim back the tax it´s around 2, 200 euros. Full warranty, authorised dealer in Germany, unopened, BNIB. For me an amazing deal at almost half price. I much prefer the aesthetic to the SL3, the sensor is sublime and coupled with my 24-90 it is an indestructible combination that shoots beautiful photos. I´m very happy.

Not really - I paid 1400€ for my S5ii new with cashback by Panasonic. Although the SL2S will replace it as first camera.

It is still great, but the SL2 is five and a half years old and there is a new model. When people talk about Leicas holding their value, it is really the lenses and the M cameras that do that best. But the SL2 and SL2S are still superb cameras.

Used prices of the SL system is intriguing, I've recently seen even M 240s being marketed for higher than the used price of an SL2(S), let alone M10s (quite a bit higher again) and that's despite the M10 being almost 2 years older than the SL2. What has surprised me more is the low prices that I've purchased the SL APO Summicrons from mainstream dealers - c £2k apiece for an immaculate 35mm and 75mm, despite SL APO primes being regarded as absolutely the best of the best.

Can I purchase it online? Where can I buy SL APO for £2,000? I want to buy it too  thanks

All Leicas become legendary after a decade, and their faults become 'character'. That's why the M9, a clunky camera with poster-like colour, and the M240 are now increasing in price.
By the time the SL3-S is launched the SL2-S will be bathed in the warm rosy glow of legendary appeal. Then I can sell it, buy the SL3-S and have some cash left over.

To me this is so disappointing. Where I live, the price for a sl2-s in mint condition, is now less than half the price compared to the price a gave for a new 15 months ago. I can't remember that big a price dump, on any Q or M model ever, after a new version came out. So for me the SL2-S was the last Leica I will buy from new. Can't even remember a Canon or Nikon top level camera that would sell under half the price from new, 6 months after it was discontinued....  I feel a bit that Leica left the customers behind when reducing the price that much for the last batches of the SL2 series in their stores....

Some 2 weeks ago I got a LNIB SL2-S with 6 months guarantee at the Leica Store Amsterdam for 1.999 Euro.... Fantastic camera at a bargain price.

Perhaps a temporary phenomenon with people upgrading and a flow of SL2-S's hitting the market, while a German retailer was putting a cap with some new SL2-S's in stock at 2.700? Anyway, a great platform to use R and the APO SL-lenses.

The LNIB from MBD appear to be refurbs for the French market. There are more than ten in stock. I can’t match the 1999,00, that appears to be a desperation sale, but at 2500 I am quite happy.

Actually this low price makes me saving money as an upgrade to the SL3 will cost too much. GAS always lurks around the corner, but now it doesn’t make any sense to trade in…

Not only that, but I think that the SL2S is the best model for general photography in the SL series. The SL3 brings nothing to the table that could significantly improve the final result of the average high-quality photograph and only adds extra complication.
