leica dream Posted January 1, 2008 Share #2 Posted January 1, 2008 Lovely shots, so crisp - obviously in the right place at the right time............or very patient! Richard
telyt Posted January 1, 2008 Share #3 Posted January 1, 2008 Well done! These birds move very quickly and are hard to photograph. I think the bird in your third photo had just taken a bath.
Doc Henry Posted January 1, 2008 Share #4 Posted January 1, 2008 Like Richard and Doug Lovely pictures and good R9/DMR shot Peter California seems to be for me a good refuge of birds. Am I right Peter?
Pedro Posted January 1, 2008 Share #5 Posted January 1, 2008 Well done. Probably difficult to reach perfect focus (as you did) considering that the birds move a lot, the small DOF and the absence of AF.
telyt Posted January 1, 2008 Share #6 Posted January 1, 2008 Well done. Probably difficult to reach perfect focus (as you did) considering that the birds move a lot, the small DOF and the absence of AF. Given the dense vegetation the absence of AF was probably a benefit. wildlightphoto Posted January 1, 2008 Share #8 Posted January 1, 2008 California seems to be for me a good refuge of birds. California has a great diversity of habitats and in most areas a mild climate year-round. This gives us opportunities to find birds almost everywhere, at any time of year. Only the highest mountains are too cold and snowy in the winter for most birds.
Martin T-M Posted January 1, 2008 Share #9 Posted January 1, 2008 Peter, excellent shots and sharpness. Martin.
psquared Posted January 2, 2008 Author Share #10 Posted January 2, 2008 Richard, Doug, Henri, Pedro, Stuart, and Martin, Thank you all for the kind remarks. Doug, thank you for the informative comments. A new forum moniker for the new year. I like it. These guys did their best to avoid being photographed, but patience won out. That and unlimited (almost ) storage capacity. The wind blowing the reeds back and forth made it more challenging. Peter
