The ttl is ‘different’ as im used to manual flash on the canon. It works well in a pinch, though… so far

Sorry if I ended up hijacking the thread... was anyone able to get good results at the 1/2000 sec flash sync speed via remote flashes?  Using the X3 trigger or otherwise?  I can't get mine to work on either our Profoto or GodOx system...  Exposure looks proper at 1/1000 but at 1/2000 I lost at least 3 stops of light.  It's like the flash fires AFTER the shutter has closed.  If I mount the flash on-camera (without using remote trigger), exposure instantly back to normal.

Ps. Everything is set to manual - aperture F2.0, shutter 1/2000, ISO 50, flash 1/1.  Manual focus.  Test photos taken in pitch-dark room so no ambient lights affecting perceived exposure from changes in shutter speed.

Given all settings the same, 1/1000 and 1/500 has minimal differences (maybe 1/3 stop?) and 1/500 vs 1/250 has identical exposure.  It's only when I go to 1/2000 I suddenly lose several stops of light.

Thanks in advance!!

Hey, I'm both new to this forum and to Leicas, have started using a Q3 alongside my Canon R3. I've got a similar problem, was trying to use my canon speedlite 600EX-RT externally with a godox XPro C on top of the Q3 and a X1R on the flash. The flash goes off on exposure but it seems like the shutter has already closed, no registration of any flash in the images. I'm a complete moron when it comes to flash photography but would just like to experiment to see if I can use the speedlite as external flash in the hand with the Q3. Grateful for any help, and sorry if this might be a really stupid idea.

Thanks in advance!

If you have the shutter speed set at 2000th of a second it is very possible the flash duration is much longer than that, therefore you will only capture a percentage of the light emitted by the flash.  At full power the flash duration may be as low as 250th of a second….depending on the flash that you use.

I finally received this trigger. It’s perfect on the Q size wise. The older triggers are ok for the SL, but too big for the Q. So, the nano plus the new ad100pro will be in a small bag, ensuring I have always some fill with me if I take the bag.

Ofcourse the mini flashes are smaller, but the ad100 is much stronger and therefore offer more possibilities. Besides, I prefer off camera flash.

Olaf,

can you please conduct a test if the X3 will work in TTL with your AD100Pro? Godox wrote me that it works, but i lost a bit of trust in Godox.
The X3-L does not work in TTL with the TT685II and i need to change either the trigger or the two brand new TT685II flashes i bought.
Yes, the X3 is really nice, on the Q series 8what i did not tried as i dont have my Q2 here in Zurich) but i would prefer to keep the X3-L for its size also on the SL2 IF it will work together with a more expensive flash from Godox what i still need to verify.

Chris, it works with the ad100pro.  Both the nano and the previous trigger. I didn’t try on the ad200 series as I normally flash manual.

I bought both the nano and ad100pro especially to use with the Q. The advantage of the ad100pro is that I can put it anywhere in a room with the head up,  without any stand needed. Great for family gatherings: I just put the ad100 somewhere, and have a great fill.

Only thing I don’t like the double flash caused by ttl, but I guess that’s inherent to ttl.

The nano is really a perfect fit to the Q unless the previous triggers which were bulky.

Thanks Olaf!

I went yesterday to the dealer who sold me the X3-L and we did several tests also with the XPRO II and it seems that against the compatibility list by Godox, the TT685II is not compatible with any Leica trigger as he will not communicate, but manual triggering is possible.
When we used the similar V850III it showed Leica on the lower left side of the display, the TT685II does not do it.

So it seems i have to buy new flashes to replace the non in TTL working new flashes 😡

Where are you guys getting the X3 from? I can't even find it on the Godox EU page.

i got mine from a local photo shop here in Zurich.
Initially i ordered the X3-L with the two TT685II thru Amazon, but the X3-L had longer shipping time so i cancelled the X3-L order and bought local.
Do a search for Godox X3-L Schweiz and you will find some remaining units.

This worked for Germany as well. Quite expensive, gotta first find out what the benefits are beside the size since I already got the XProII.

There is no other benefit other than size, but i found a video where the photographer stated that he prefer the XPro II as he can use the buttons blindly but can not do that with the touchscreen of the X3.
The small size of the X3 is nice to have, the touchscreen also, particularly for a Q, for my SL the XPro II would fit reasonable well too.

Ordered from my local dealer in zagreb, but waited almost three months. Only benefit for me is its size, and it has its own battery. I have a studio setup for the SL, but didn’t like to “steal” the trigger from that set, so I decided to buy an additional one, dedicated only to the Q and the ad100pro.

Just a short update regarding the X3-L and the Godox TT685II
As TTL does not work with the above combination i pulled the trigger and bought two Godox V1 flashes and BINGO:
TTL does work as supposed!

All good not, except that i have tow TT685II for Canon to sell

Have you checked if a new firmware update for both is available, if so then update.
Send a email to Godox support, it takes about 2 days to get a reply but it's usually spot on.
