Derbyshire Man Posted October 6 Share #41 Posted October 6 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Never heard of Mott's, looked up their apple sauce; high fructose corn syrup in it as second ingredient, yuck! You're to good for them anyway🤣 I always say to myself that if I want to make something warm and fuzzy I'll shrink it down from 60mp to 18mp without sharpening and go from there. In fact however I'm always in monochrome and I simply turn the grain up! Edited October 6 by Derbyshire Man

If Mott's reaches out to me for an apple sauce campaign, but needs the above in 60MP for nationwide billboards, I will rue the day. you'll be okay, i promise. billboards have been made with less for a long time. and art buyers will usually not neglect a photo because it's not enough resolution if they didn't commission it that way, as long as it's generally substantive. I license images that are 10-12 mp still. I've had a 12 mp image cropped to like 1/3 of the frame and used widely, lol. but, 60 mp is a great sales pitch! and the sensor pixel size remains the same no matter what you shoot the m11 at. it just downsamples the image. Very few of our images will be viewed from the same distance as a billboard is typically viewed.

No argument there. The DPI on those are crazy low. Still, if an art buyer really wants an image of yours because it's so singularly good and appropriate for their cause (following the hypothetical situation posted), they will be plenty happy with 18 mp generally, in my experience. It's a straight out of the camera DNG file no tweaking, downloaded off the SD card to Apple Photos, ( which I use as a first "selection" programme before exporting any "picks" to LrC for PP ), converted to jpeg and posted here. The colours and late afternoon tones are perfect. WB-daylight, Highlight Weighted exposure setting, with the 35 Summilux SR Re-Issue bolted on front. I've made as a test a full borderless A2 print of this shot just to see how 18mps hold up, and there's no issue at all, I could easily go to A1 I am sure and will soon enough when I make an image that deserves that boost in print size. Now 18mps is what the M11-D is set on as my basic choice / set-up and I see no reason to click that higher to 36mps or the full 60mps. Welcome, dear visitor! pedoc Posted November 1 Share #46 Posted November 1 Nice image! I wonder what light metering method you used: spot or highlight weighted?
