JLV Posted October 22, 2024 Share #1 Posted October 22, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all, Is it normal for the aperture ring of a new 35 summicorn asph to be a little loose (you can move it from front to back) No touch but you feel it. I know that it was considered as a flaw on the "reproduction" of the steel rim. Any of my other Leica lenses "suffer" from that. The thing that bothers me the most is that I didn't see it when I bought it and that I have to go back to the store and make them send it for set up. Your input is welcome. Advertisement Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 Hi JLV, Take a look here Aperture ring a bit loose on a new 35 cron ash. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lct Posted October 23, 2024 Share #2 Posted October 23, 2024 The aperture rings of my Summicrons 35/2 asph v1 & v2 are not loose at all. If you bought your lens new such looseness is covered by the Leica warranty. I would not insist that looseness was visible though as French laws don't cover the "vice apparent". Jeff S Posted October 23, 2024 Share #3 Posted October 23, 2024 All too common, it seems, with modern M lenses, regardless of price. I wouldn’t buy one without checking, or with return policy. The good news, however, is that it can be easily fixed. In the US, I’d probably send it to DAG instead of Leica, no matter the small cost. Don’t know about third party services in your area. If exchange not available from dealer, and estimated Leica repair is lengthy, I would insist on loaner. Jeff
