The focus peaking is generally useless and distracting on an M both on the LCD and in Visoflex.  I always forget how to disable the damn thing, apparently per user profile?!  I do not use user profiles so the whole conundrum has to be swatted away in some volatile and forgettable spasm after some firmware update or a blue moon brings it back.  It is accompanied by a red-white person, as if it were some Polish or Swiss user profile.  Same weirdo on SL-2.  Now that I’ve extinguished the red dots on an LCD, they show up in the Visoflex 2 when attached to the M11-D.  This is what I got it for, close-range focusing with the new Summicrons, 28 and 35 APO on the D.  Since there’s no more menus I don’t know how to get rid of it.  The FOTOS app seems to only set basic features.  Any ideas?  Is there some general way to only have optional focus peaking while pressing the function button that also causes magnification, which is what’s really helpful?

Unlike the M11P/M on the M11D there seems to be no way to turn off focus assist in the menu, however it is done with the function button when the visoflex is connected, each press adds an additional level of 'assistance' until it cycles to the beginning;

No aids

Red focus peaking

Full shooting details and histogram

Grid and level

Back to no aids

In the same way, the back thumbwheel controls the level of magnification, none -> medium -> maximum -> none. Worth noting it only behaves like this when the mag box is showing in the bottom left, otherwise it defaults to exposure compensation. To get back from focus mag to exp comp half press the shutter, to go to mag change the focus.

Quite elegant really.

Nice. I suspect that’s pretty instinctive, especially once you have done it a few times.

Does it remember your last setting, or do you have to cycle through them every time?  I suspect it remembers. The normal M11 remembers zoom level in the same scenario.

So with the Visoflex 2 attached to the M11-D, the function button no longer toggles through remaining shots, battery percentage remaining, etc. in the rangefinder?
