Philip G Posted September 29, 2024 Share #1 Posted September 29, 2024 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I have just ordered one of these new half-cases (part no. 18573) after reading the Leica website blurb in which it clearly states that cut-outs on the bottom keep the battery and SD card easily accessible - but judging from the photograph it seems that there is only battery access. Has anyone actually seen one of these yet to see how to access the card without the hassle of removing the strap then the case? Advertisement Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 Hi Philip G, Take a look here Q3 Multifunction case SD card access. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Stephen_C Posted September 29, 2024 Share #2 Posted September 29, 2024 I, too, have one on order and read, before ordering, the reference you mentioned (access to the SD card). The Leica GB website still states quite clearly: Quote Cut-outs on the bottom keep the battery and SD card easily accessible and ensure that the camera is always ready for use, even on the go. However, the Leica Store Amsterdam states: Quote Featuring an integrated handgrip and direct battery access, it offers quick mounting on tripods via Arca-Swiss compatibility. This practical protector ensures your Leica Q3 is secure and ready for action while maintaining a stylish look. It seems quite clear from the photos that the former is incorrect and the latter is correct. Stephen

darlesch Posted September 30, 2024 Share #4 Posted September 30, 2024 Yes, unfortunately you can't access the SD card, which is why they left cutouts for the USB-C port. They seemed to have focused on form with this case. I guess what you could do is buy a 256 GB card, leave it in full-time and retrieve photos via the USB-C port... Velo-city Posted October 25, 2024 Share #5 Posted October 25, 2024 I can also confirm you can't access the SD card with this case (part no. 18573). My wife bought it for her Q343 and returned it to Leica without issue once it became apparent that the description is incorrect. If you just had to unscrew it would be one thing, but if you use a strap then you have to take that off which is a complete faff and we both found it extremely fiddly - would only ever want to do it once. It's not actually that comfortable either. The wireless charging grip (part 19530) comes off with a simple unscrew, and offers base protection (and is a tiny bit more comfortable IMO), but doesn't protect the camera much. That's what is on there now. To be honest, both were a bit of a disappointment given the price....
