isn't bw nano a slim filter?...and still would not work with the original hood?

I own the b&w nano and can confirm, it doesn‘t work with the original hood

it would actually fit but when fully srewed in and tightened then it stops at a wrong angle. Too stupid.

I just want to inform you that there is now a B+W filter solution for the Leica Q3 43. This filter works with the original Lens Hood and the Macro Mode. Tekiac have developed a special design with B+W. You can now find a filter for the Leica Q3 43 on tekiac.com. An B+W ND filter and a B+W White Mist and B+W Black Mist filter will also be available soon for the Leica Q3 43.

All you do is put an extension ring between the lens and the lens hood so that the lens hood can be moved a little further away and macro mode is now possible. An expensive pleasure for 150 €. I would always prefer the Haoge lens hood because it then makes it possible to use various other filters such as polarizing filters or ND filters, even in macro mode, and at a third of the price.

Sorry, but that is not the case. The filter frame very thin (thinner than normal). Because the frame is so thin, there is a special mounting aid tool to make it easy to attach the filter. We've pushed the frame thickness to the limit with B+W here.

So, whether you're wearing gloves or have sweaty fingers, the mounting aid makes changing the filter very quick and easy. Despite its thinness, it's truly a small innovation in handling :)

I've never doubted that. What other filters does b+w offer besides those mentioned? ND filters, polarizing filters, clear filters, color filters, effect filters... With the Haoge lens hood, all common slimline filters can be mounted and used too in macro mode.

I can imagine that in the future there will be other types of filters from B+W for the Q3 43 that will work with the original lens hood. The difference is easy to see here, the Q3 43 lens hood is smaller and has a completely different design, including a specially machined inner ring. The Haoge lens hood is more of a design object, intended only to visually resemble the Q3, but it lacks any real function. In the end, everyone has to decide for themselves what matters more, functionality or pure aesthetics.

I also had the Haoge lens hood and didn't notice any disadvantages in terms of functionality. It shaded the lens just as well as the original. I ended up returning it because I don't do macro photography. I opted for a B+W clear filter as a protective filter, which works with the original. With the Haoge, I was interested in the fact that all filters are now usable and that it's a more affordable alternative.

Hi,

I’m wondering if I missed it, or if it’s a recent release that’s actually work with the Q3 43 and its … lens hood

https://leica-camera.com/en-US/photography/accessories/filters/slim-filter-uva-ii-e49-black

Thanks,

This filter doesn't work, with the Q3 43 and the original lens hood, only a filter without a front thread can be used. In macro mode, the gap between the barrel and the lens hood is about 0.3 mm. That's why for example the B+W Ultra Slim Clear-Protection filter has no front thread the filter needs to sit flush with the camera body. That's also why B+W Ultra Slim Clear-Protection filter is a mounting tool includes, with these filters since the filter sits flush with the housing, there's no way to grip it by hand for installation.

Thanks for your reply!

I thought that, since it seemed to be a new product and I discovered it in Leica’s official newsletter (in french on my example) — with the article on Kylie Shea and her Leica Q3 43 — Leica had adjusted their filter to fit the “issue” of the 43… But apparently not.

No, this filter does not fit, as it is a Slim filter specifically designed for wide-angle lenses, in case someone still needs a front thread. The B+W Ultra Slim Clear Protection Filter designed by Tekiac, developed specifically for the Q3 43 can be officially ordered or purchased at any Leica Store worldwide. It has an official Leica part number and is listed in the Leica SAP system, allowing any store to order it directly.

The B+W Ultra Slim Clear Protection Filter can, of course, also be used with the Q (Typ 116), Q2, and Q3. It does not have a front thread and sits flush with the camera body.

Thanks,

Hello,

I bought my Leica Q3 43 in the Leica Store Zurich, Switzerland. They sold me the Tekiac B+W filter with the camera. This filter is officially sold there in the store. I assume that Leica has a cooperation with this filter manufacturer for the Leica Q3 43. And everything is working, macro mode with the lens hood and so on.

I can also recommend the Leica store in Zurich, very nice people. And they took time to show me everything about the camera.

Greetings
Leon
