VADIM Svirchuk Posted September 24, 2024 Share #1 Posted September 24, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all. I am new to the group. I have never used Leica and I do not know much about the camera yet. I was offered to purchase Leica 18194 V - Lux (Type 114) for $900. On Amazon it goes for $1300 Is it worth buying it for someone who is new to the photography? The camera seems to be discontinued. This hardly used camera is 3 years old. Please, advice. Advertisement Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 Hi VADIM Svirchuk, Take a look here Leica V - Lux (Type 114). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
TheForth99 Posted September 24, 2024 Share #2 Posted September 24, 2024 Hi V, I have the same camera for many years now. It is a great all-round camera. I enjoy the fact that it is all-in-1, can do Macro to 800mm. I use it as my travel documentation camera, though I find that my Smartphone camera is slowly taking over for this purpose. Though the quality for anything that is a bit further away or has any expectation to be more of a photographers subject matter, the V-Lux is much better. That all said, it might have the Leica badge, but it is a cooperation camera between Panasonic and Leica. Panasonic sells it with very minor difference as, I believe, FZ1000, which is somewhat more affordable. Lastly, this leads me to the prize, pre-owned FZ1000s go for between 400-500 Dollars. It is up to you if you want to paid a premium for the red dot. 😉 I did and I never regretted the decision. https://www.dpreview.com/reviews/panasonic-lumix-dmc-fz1000

Mike40 Posted September 29, 2024 Share #5 Posted September 29, 2024 Hi Vadim, I've had my V-Lux 114 for just over a year and paid just over £500 for one in "Excellent" condition from MBP in the UK. So far, I've done everything from street photography, a bit of architecture, a lot of tourism and, most recently, an air show. It's coped wonderfully with everything I've thrown at it. I started photography at age 12 and I'm now 76 - however, this is my first digital camera and I'm delighted with it. It will treat you gently but be ready for whatever you want to try. There's so much to explore and, if you buy this camera, you will not be disappointed. Like me, you will wish you'd had it years ago. Any questions, just ask...... Take care, Mike

It will reward you if you study the user instructions. I would not be without mine. jaapv Posted May 26 Share #8 Posted May 26 English please. This is an international forum. Dus in het Engels, zodat iedereen je begrijpt. Quality digital photographs need postprocessing for an optimal result. Unless you are willing to accept the out-of-camera jpg's which you can adjust in the camera menu, or use the "Leica Looks", import them into your editing program of choice and adjust to taste.
