Hey everyone,

I’ve been on the hunt for a clear or UV filter that complements my brass silver Summilux 50mm. I’ve tried the current E46 Leica silver filter, but it seems to pair better with my aluminum silver lenses like the 35mm Summilux FLE—it’s nearly a perfect match for that one. I also went for a B+W clear filter in grey titanium, but it doesn’t quite fit the look either.

Does anyone here own this lens with a Leica E46 UV filter in black? If so, would you mind sharing a couple of pictures of the front with and without the retracted hood? I’d love to get a visual comparison before buying another filter.

Thanks a lot!

I am holding my lens in my hands, a brass 50 Lux with a chrome E46 Leica filter on it and—it’s nearly a perfect match for that one. Which 50 Summilux do you have?

To be honest, I don't pay too much attention in matching the finish of a lens filter to any given lens, No one I know will notice when looking at the photos I made with any lens and lens filter combo I used.

Maybe the issue is that I don't match my socks with my pants, my shirts or anything else I wear either, I pick the first pair in the my sock drawer and ... no holes in it, good to go.

I am not that picky.

@Kubixx

I see a difference in my UVa II filter and brass 50 Summilux, the filter is brighter.  Contax filters are available from the old G system, there is a 46mm UV available, they have a slight warm cast when put on the lux, the big advantage is the inner retaining ring along with the threads are black and reflects less.
