Advertisement Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 Hi Guest Seb V, Take a look here Scotland. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
gareth_c Posted August 27, 2006 Share #2 Posted August 27, 2006 A lovely image and one I am sure she will treasure when she is older. There is a scratch/hair that appears quite strongly though and some white border around part of the image.
Guest Seb V Posted August 27, 2006 Share #3 Posted August 27, 2006 I saw that hair. Unfortunately neg scanner is in storage. Using a flatbed.
gareth_c Posted August 27, 2006 Share #4 Posted August 27, 2006 It doesn't take away the beauty of the image. And, like I said before, I am sure this will be a treasured picture in the future.
uulrich Posted August 27, 2006 Share #5 Posted August 27, 2006 I know this one from PN but here I comment it - terrific and as mentioned by Gareth a beautiful image. Thanks.
stuny Posted August 27, 2006 Share #6 Posted August 27, 2006 Seb - It is a lovely and most appealing image. Did she enjoy herself? Even though you just have access now a flatbed I recommend that you clean the flatbed's platen and the print, carefully position the print to eliminate the white, and scan again. The image is so good that it deserves the extra effort.
Guest Seb V Posted August 27, 2006 Share #7 Posted August 27, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks for the comments. She loved flyfishing - definitely hooked.
lambroving Posted August 27, 2006 Share #8 Posted August 27, 2006 Seb, Nice catch! This is the sort of thing I was hoping you would post. When you unpack the scanner, I'd enjoy seeing it much larger. Any more from the holiday?
uulrich Posted August 27, 2006 Share #9 Posted August 27, 2006 Yes, I second William. Where was it taken? Just for my curiosity as I am in Scotland. Cheers.
Guest Seb V Posted August 27, 2006 Share #10 Posted August 27, 2006 OK, first of all, it was taken with the 28 f2.0. See - it CAN take portraits. I took it in Berwickshire, just 10 miles indside the border on Coldingham Loch. We rented a little house actually on the loch that jutts out on stilts. Fantastic if you can live without electricity. Couldn't charge a digicam up there LOL. William - thanks for your comments - the light is so lovely up there it is difficult to get a bad photo. My girlfriend took a picture of the extractor fan in the bathroom window and it ended up in her portfolio! see xanthegreenhill.com.
lambroving Posted August 27, 2006 Share #11 Posted August 27, 2006 Seb, No surprise! The shot appears to have that delicate touch of the light with the 28/2. You recall my aqueduct shot? The fan looks like a rosette!

uulrich Posted August 27, 2006 Share #19 Posted August 27, 2006 Sebastian. I commented before. You have a great sense w.r.t colour, which also makes this photograph. The way you put everything into context is astonishing and I am very pleased to be able to have a look at your postings. A pleasure and a great honor. Allow me a stupid q. What film do you use; do you spend usually more than one hour for a posting?
Guest Seb V Posted August 27, 2006 Share #20 Posted August 27, 2006 Wow, Im really pleasantly surprised by all the encouraging comments. The film was Kodak 400 NC. Always use it, sometimes the 160 too. Seb
