evgeny_govorov Posted December 23, 2007 Share #1 Posted December 23, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello to everybody! I'm from Moscow, and there is no new summarits, even in official representative (they received only 3 lenses and don't like to sell it without M8's) from 29 Dec to 7 Jan I plan to work in Thailand (Phang Nga 82120 Thailand). Do you knows any dealer or Leica stores? recellers? I found 3 companies on official Leica website, in Bangkok, sent some mails, but it is far away (800 km) from Phang Nga. With best wishes, Evgeny

Dantist Posted December 24, 2007 Share #2 Posted December 24, 2007 Hi evgeny, If no possibilities pop up in Bangkok, don't hesitate, take a quick flight to Hong-Kong or Sydney : Leica Camera AG - Dealer Locator
leitz_not_leica Posted December 24, 2007 Share #3 Posted December 24, 2007 Ask your company if you can take some holidays at the end of your assignment, at least a week. I work overseas as part of my job, Qatar starts after the holidays, and ALWAYS take time off at the end to look around. I worked in Krasnodar in 2001/2002 and when that was over I spent two weeks to visit my girlfriend in Spain. I also worked near Pattaya, Thailand twice (1990 and 2005) and the only Leica shops I saw were in Bangkok. They had pretty good prices at the time on used gear. Edit: This is the best time of year to go. It's the dry/cool season, enjoy.
roccoriley Posted December 25, 2007 Share #4 Posted December 25, 2007 The King of Thailand is a photographer and shoots with Leicas! I seem to recall that he published a book of his photos a couple of years ago. I think the duty on cameras sold in Thailand may be significant, you may want to route your trip through another country where the tax is lower. Blue Posted October 18, 2008 Share #7 Posted October 18, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am uncertain about the comment suggesting the king of Thailand uses Leicas. I have seen several cameras in his hands and am almost sure they were all Nikons....
peepoo Posted November 24, 2008 Share #8 Posted November 24, 2008 He uses Canon regularly. I never seen him use Leica or Nikon. His picture with Canon is all over Thailand. Long Live The King.
john_michael Posted May 14, 2009 Share #9 Posted May 14, 2009 Welcome to the Club. I had the greatest of troubles finding LEICA in Bangkok. When I found some, these were M6 in status I d say, D, for "only" USD 2000,-, just the camera. Haggling proved unfruitful. My advice: Not worth it. Buy one from EBAY GERMANY and have it shipped to your address in Thailand. LEICABEIMEISTER is also a good address. They ship anywhere

LCraker Posted May 27, 2012 Share #11 Posted May 27, 2012 I have seen both Nikon's and Canon's in king Bhumibol Adulyadej hands in both photos and paintings, he was using a point and shoot last week in his first visit out of the hospital to Ayutthaya, I am not able to see the brand. I have never seen him with a Leica although a gold commemorative M6 was made in his honor. Long Live the King.
hamey Posted May 27, 2012 Share #12 Posted May 27, 2012 Everytime I have seen photo's of the King it's always been a Canon around his neck. He is extremely reverd by his people in Thailand. Long live the King. Ken.
