Using the iPhone 15 Pro.  I connected the camera and phone successfully but it only gives me the option of using the phone as the remote.   Pressing the shutter release on the camera does nothing and the LCD is blank; is this how the app is supposed to work?  I hold the camera and the display on the phone shows what the camera LCD should show.  In order to take a photo, I have to use the virtual shutter release button on the phone.  My desire is for the phone just to download the photos and geotag.  Otherwise, the camera should behave as if it were not connected wirelessly.

I don't remember the app being restricted this way on my M11P and Q3.

Thats how Fotos works (at the moment) - effectively a remote viewer & shutter release. The images will download in the background and appear on the iPhone screen. You then select whichever photo/s and download them to the Leica gallery.

Really, that seems worthless than if you have to both point the camera to take the photo and hold your phone in the other had to trigger the release. What photographer is going to put up with that?

I use it for night photography on a tripod. The only issue I have with it is the somewhat limited distance the camera has from the iPhone

I bought the Dlux-8 with the remote control from iPhone in mind, happy to take complex photos with ease :)

With ease ? Not in real life. Connecting to the iPhone takes time, a very, very long time. It regulary fails and I have to try again and again, and then it works. I thought it was a 2 sec thing ... it's more a 2 minute thing, when I'm lucky

I thought I could do the same from my Macbook Pro : remote controlling the camera, automatically receive the DNG in Lightroom ... that will forever be a dream, only the iPhone app works

It's Leica, it's exepensive, very expensive, and for the high price you even don't have basic functions that low-cost shitty cameras have

And more over, after 4 days of use, 30-40 photos taken, My Dlux-8 doesn't work anymore, there are corrupted photos on the SD card, and the same SD card is not recognized by the camera. Erasing it make it work again for an approximate 3-4 hours before becoming unrecognized again. I found that I'm not alone to have this issue.

Leica had to be my best experience in photos, for now it's my worst

Did you, or anyone, ever get this to work properly?  I am unable to get mine to even connect & at this point will be returning it as defective if this feature is still not working as advertised.  Thank you.

Well the complaint here points at using an SD card from another camera without formatting it properly. As for FOTOS - you can find your answers in the dedicated forum.
