Thanks! DPReview had quite a few. Quite a bit of correction happening in-camera. Files look great.

I’ve been using the APO Summicron-SL lenses (21/35/50/75) on my SL cameras for years.  These images are very promising and I’m excited to start using this camera.

There will be a workshop at the prototype museum in hamburg together with Leica. One night at the museum.

Well, I managed to obtain a Q3 43 from the Leica store (in Sydney NSW, Australia) today. I purchased the camera 'over the phone' as I live in another State (SA) in Australia and my usual local retailer did not have any Q3 43's in stock.  My local dealer did say they were only receiving/allocated 2 units, and like someone here mentioned previously, the dealer also said that after this initial release stock, the expected wait for more stock could be 6 to 9 months.  Yikes!

So, it looks like (according to the Leica dealer) there will be a similar longish waiting list worldwide once the first release stock is exhausted.  Obviously with a smaller market/population, the number of available new Q3 43's in Australia will be considerably less than in the US, Europe and Asia (the largest markets), but these could soon be hard to source as well.

Mine should arrive mid next week - so I will then have to compare usage with my current Q3 (28).  I take a fair amount of 'grandchildren photos' and more often than not, I use the cropping feature on the Q3 to obtain a more portrait style image, so the incoming Q3 43 should serve this aspect of my photography well.  Regardless, I still wish that Leica would incorporate an option to show the full zoomed/cropped image in the EVF as well as (just) the white crop frames.

Congratulations on your purchase! It sounds like there has been ample stock brought in for the release. A friend of mine popped into the Sydney store to try out the Q3 43 and said there was still stock available this afternoon. But as you’ve written, it might be a long wait after that supply is sold out.
I’m glad I asked to be put on the “rumour only no questions asked” wait list when I first heard about it. Like you I’ll hopefully receive mine early next week. It’s coming from the Melbourne Leica store where I’ve always had a relationship with even though I live in Sydney. Can’t wait to get my hands on it. Will be using it mainly for environmental portraits, family photos, and abstract street photography. Finally won’t have to crop as much or as often as I have with my Q3!

Might be the only two Leicas I will need now!

That event looks great.  The Leica Store in NYC is hosting a car event on October 13th.  I'll be bringing my Q3 43, SL3 and my GT3 Touring.

There was a fashion in the 1970's and 80's for brown cars. Everything from an Austin Allegro to the Ferrari 365 GTC/4 that I had. My kids used to make fun of Dad's brown Ferrari until I showed them a photo of Steve McQueen's brown Ferrari.

I asked this question earlier but received no reply. After receiving my Q3 43 today, I can confirm that you can use regular filters when using the optional ventilated hood.

For those who don't know, regular filters don't fit with the included Q3 43 hood (you need to use low profile filters like B+W Master 007 49mm).

Some years ago there was a suggestion to move away from the complexity and cost of interchangeable lenses to just making and selling high quality lenses with an attached camera.

It seems that Leica is going down that path. Perhaps the next Q with be a Q3-90 for those who specialise in nature and portraits.

I take it the lens cap supplied with the Q3 43 doesn't fit the ventilated hood? If not what lens cap do you use?

TIA

As is also described in the Q3 43 manual (available to download from Leica's website), the clip-on lens cap is recommended to use with the ventilated hood.

Australian Leica site link:

I'm sure a third party clip-on lens cap to fit a 49mm end thread lens could be obtained for a lot less than the Leica embossed one that they sell.
